BE THEIR VOICE PROTEST - AGAINST ANIMALS USED IN LABS

Animal experimentation is a scandal that has been hidden from the American public.  Right here in Tampa at the University of South Florida there is animal experimentation going on. Animals like pigs, hamsters, primates, cats, rabbits and more. Please join FVA as we protest for World Laboratory Animal Liberation Week (April 19-27, 2014). For more information visit SAEN at http://www.saenonline.org/ and SAEN Facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/pages/SAEN-Stop-Animal-Exploitation-Now/853176

Over 25 million animals suffer and die in U.S. laboratories every year.  These innocent victims are subjected to addictive drugs, caustic chemicals, ionizing radiation, chemical and biological weapons, electric shock, deprivation of food and/or water, psychological torture and many other horrors.

This is the week when activists come together to make a difference for these animals. We want to raise public awareness of their plight.  The animals are depending on each one of us to stand up and act of their behalf.

PLEASE JOIN US:  APRIL 26  SATURDAY  TIME 10:00am to 12:00pm.

We will be on the corner of Bruce B. Downs Blvd. and West Holly Dr. in the front of USF Health Center.

Please make your own sign and message for this protest.  We will also bring extra signs. Bring water, hat and sun screen.

THANKS!!

It went well and, judging by the car horns, seemed to get a favorable response from the public. However, it would have been nice if there had been some level of media coverage, with more exposure of the reasons for the protest - beyond those that simply drove by.

    Good to see you

HELP! Any chance anyone is leaving from Sarasota, and could let me ride with them? I would help pay for the gas. Had injured my leg a couple of days ago, thought it was healing faster than it is BUT still will be at the protest...however, it would be a bit easier if someone were able to do the driving. If not, I will get there, anyway. Thanks in advance.
This truly is one of THE most worthwhile protests....about the poor lab animals " unseen, they suffer, unheard they cry, alone they die".....just tragic.
and I look forward SO very much toward meeting you all who are going to be there. It will be an honor for me.........

Am still somewhat concerned that it has been moved to a site near a Children's facility --- do you think that might seem offensive to passers-by??? Just wondering....

We will be behind the building and there are no signs for CMS where we will be. You will see when we get there. I just gave you the address so those of you would have a address for your gps.

    l) Do you think it might be more controversial, being near a Childrens Center ? Just concerned.
    2) Does anyone need a ride from Sarasota area?

    April 24, 2014

    • Diane K.

No it will be fine. We have been there before and are away from the entrance. Also I think they are closed on Saturdays.

For those of you who have time after the protest we can head over to Kaleisia Tea (1441 Fletcher Ave. #101)
and have lunch, cool down and chat. Its just around the corner from the protest. I look forward to meeting with all of you if I haven't already and seeing those of you I already know.
If you can make a sign for the protest that would be great. We have aprox. 13 and you can make one while there also.
Thanks again for caring about these poor forgotten creatures in all the labs of the world. We will be their voice on Saturday!!
    Questions?? Let me know.
Sorry I had to split conversation into 3 because of work limit. :)

Now for parking..if going north on Bruce B Downs Blvd. you will first pass 131st Ave then go into left lane and turn left onto 132nd Ave. If you end up at Fletcher Ave you have gone to far and will need to turn around. Once on 132nd Ave heading west pass the Wells Fargo and the next right turn will be a Walmart Parking lot. You will be able to park in there without problem. It is approximately .2 mile. Easy walk but you will need to cross over Bruce B Downs Blvd. so be careful. Allow for parking and the walk to make sure you get there at 10:00 am

Hi all of you animal warriors! I have parking instructions for you for Saturday.
First, we will be standing on the corner on Holly Dr./131st Ave and Bruce B Downs Blvd. On the same side as the Children's Medical Services (13101 Bruce B Downs Blvd). Which would be NE corner if you are going North. We will split up to all 4 corners depending on how many people show up.

  • Jane B.

How many are you expecting? I will be carrying two signs......will that look too strange? I have SUCH feelings about this cause......

    1 · April 22, 2014

    • Diane K.

We need signs so if you make your own and can have an extra one that would be perfect. Thanks.

Debbie W.... I live in Sarasota and will be driving up to Tampa. Do you want company? In what city do you live?

    Gael
Thanks for all this sad information, and your advocating. I wish they're more caring people to stand up for these animals that don't deserve this terrible torture. Thanks to everyone here. I'll be there. Hope to meet you.

I have been trying to follow up on the research facilities there (and will call tomorrow to see what I can learn)....the Animal Welfare Law, however, does NOT apply to facilities that experiment on laboratory bred mice, rats, amphibians, birds, and invertebrates; these places do not ever get inspected by the USDA, nor do they ever have to file reports. HOWEVER, this facility we are picketing DOES have annual inspections of certain animals and other things( for what these inspections are worth??_
. We really have to determine more of what is going on in this lab, in order to present a very accurate report to the general public walking by. My theory is that they have giant rooms filled with lab bred rats, mice, etc. and never have to have that inspected.
I do not know, however; am wondering - since there must be some tax money involved - if we, as taxpayers, are allowed in to see the laboratories>>
    Does anyone know???? Thank you...

Thanks so much for caring Jane and going to all this trouble for our innocent friends. I'm going to protest as well. Hope to meet you.

Gael Murphy -- thank you SO MUCH. Will follow up on your comments.

Where is it safe to park?

    April 10, 2014

  • Jane B.

Can anyone make copies of the 'bad companies' that DO test on animals? Are we allowed to distribute these to people walking by?? We also could give out lists with the 'good companies' if anyone agrees.

    April 8, 2014

  • Denise

Sorry we can't make it....we have an outreach event this day.

    April 4, 2014

  • Jane B.

The poster you have above is EXCELLENT!!! Hope someone can carry that. Wish we could adopt some of the little creatures, like mice rabbits, etc. upon whom they are doing their miserable experiments. As a retired Nurse and life-long animal lover, I plan to be there....wonderful idea, God bless you.
Has anyone been able to gain access to the labs there to take pictures that we could enlarge and display???????

    April 1, 2014

    • Debbie W

Great idea, and thanks so much for caring for our precious animals. I'll be there for sure with my electronic speaker, so our voices can be heard for our innocent beings. Hope to see you there....
