You can attend this extensive and informative annual exhibition on either Saturday or Sunday. On October 25, it's open from 9 AM to 4 PM. On October 26, it's open from 10 AM to 3 PM. Our garden club's web site is listing the details for the two days on two pages of our schedule of events. To let your friends in the club know on which day you'll attend, on either of the pages just click the RSVP link near the upper right corner of the screen to post your intentions.
The garden show is sponsored by the Collier County University Extension Office, comprised of experts in the art and science of gardening in this semi-tropical environment. For an admission fee of only $3 (free for children under age 12), you'll learn how to enhance the beauty of your own garden. All proceeds will support the Master Gardeners' education programs.
Throughout the day, you can see many demonstrations, hear educational speakers, and take guided tours of the many gardens on the Extension's property. Vendors will be offering at sale prices their orchids, bromeliads, herbs, fruit trees, palm trees, native plants, other tropicals, pottery and more. If you purchase any heavy plants, the volunteer youths in the 4-H booth will carry them to your car for you. Master Gardeners will also have booths where they can answer all your gardening questions.
Door prizes will be given away all day long, so hold on to your numbered admission tickets. Visit the Horticultural Learning Center to admire the Extension's gardens on your own, or with knowledgeable guides offering tours all day. You'll be inspired by the butterfly garden, children's garden, color garden, native plant garden, vegetable/recycle garden, and garden of the senses.
Because club members can arrive and leave at any time over many hours, distributing name tags would be impractical. But members can recognize one another by the photos in their profiles. See you there?
