Folk Music NYC celebrates, supports and carries on the traditions of folk music of all flavors, presenting concerts, musical get-togethers, singing parties, musical weekends and classes. Folk Music NYC is sponsored by the Folk Music Society of New York, Inc. / New York Pinewoods Folk Music Club. The club is a non-profit 501(c)(3) educational corporation, an affiliate of the Country Dance and Song Society of America run by a volunteer Board of Directors.

The Sunnyside Folk Club (formerly the Sunnyside Singers Club) is a weekly in-person session inside Sanger Hall, an Irish-American pub. at 48-20 Skillman Avenue (corner of 49th Street) in Sunnyside, Queens, NY.
Bring voices and songs to share. Acoustic instruments are also welcome. Traditional songs are especially welcome. About once a month there will be a featured guest performer for part of the evening.
There is no admission charge. We request a voluntary contribution when we have a guest performer. A purchase of food or beverage is expected.

South Street Seaport Museum’s monthly Sea Chanteys and Maritime Music, the original NYC chantey sing, continues on the first Sunday of every month.
This Spring and Summer the Chantey Sing moves outdoors to the 1885 tall ship Wavertree! Boarding the tall ship Wavertree requires climbing a small set of ladder-type stairs and an angled gangway.Singers of all levels, as well as listeners, are welcome to attend and can lead or request a traditional maritime work song or ballad. The program will offer a round-robin where anyone can sing and share the chantey of their choice, join in the choruses throughout the event, or just listen.
Before and after the Chantey Sing, participants are invited to take advantage of Pay What You Wish General Admission to the Seaport Museum. General Admission includes access to three gallery exhibitions at 12 Fulton Street as well as a walk through Wavertree at whatever price is right for you––the full ticket price, free in-person admission, or any amount in between.
