Singing Those Winter Cares Away (with potluck)

  • January 19, 2014 · 4:45 PM
  • Private home - directions will be sent

Braving January in Western MA calls for good people and good music. Please come join us for both. We’ll gather by the fireplace again for shared songs and a yummy potluck. Words like cozy, happy and best of wintertime come to mind. Our songs span the gamut – funny, beautiful, playful, exuberant, heartful….please join us and make the stew even richer by sharing some of your favorites.

RSVPs
RSVPs will close at 2 PM the day before or when we max out on parking if that comes earlier. Please cancel if your plans change and you cannot join us so we can welcome people from the wait list.

We are now working on a wait list for this event. If you are open to being part of a carpool from Barstow's 1/2 a mile up the road, it will significantly increase your chances of getting into the event. Please sign up if you are interested and I will let you know the options as rides become available or people cancel.

FOOD
We’ll start at 4:45 with a potluck supper (please bring food for 5-8 if you want to participate). If you only want to join us for the sing, please come at 5:30 and bring munchies. We’ll plan on singing until 7:30.

GETTING HERE
We’ll be organizing carpools from Amherst and Northampton to help fit all who want to come. Carpooling isn’t a requirement but it is a great way to get to know people and it really helps with our parking constraints. Please volunteer to carpool if you can but don’t stay away if you can’t. I’ll send a coordinating email as we get closer to the event and will add people from the wait list as space allows. (FYI - At our last meeting we considered moving to a place with better parking but the ambiance here won out over parking ease.)

Directions will be sent 1-2 days before the event to those who have registered.

While we’re building a great community, we’re always seeking to make new friends too so please help spread the word about this song swap with friends who would enjoy it

I very much hope you can join us as we sing our winter cares away.

This was a brilliant group of creative and diverse uplifting folks with a very generous and conscientious host. Thank you Nan, and all you creative instrumentalists and voices!

Wonderful! Supportive and fun environment to learn, re-experience, practice, and feel the joy of singing. I was surprised at how many songs I already knew. And Nan is such a great and gracious organizer!

Very sorry to miss this one. It looks like a great time will be had by all, and congrats to Nan for pulling off yet another Very Cool Event. I hope to tune up my tonsils for the next one in Feb. Meantime, let me leave you all with engineer & cat wrangler Paul Klusman's dee-lightful musical contribution of "Advanced Cat Yodeling". Be advised that no cats were harmed in the making of this video, only annoyed.

    Pardon me, if you please.
I'll try and keep the conversation focused.
    I'm so easily distracted.

It was nice to see you at the Hippie Social.
Looking forward to your company at Nan's and your generously fantastic offering of percussions and music.

I am not sure how to incorporate into a carpool. I was more interested in coming for the singing than the potluck, and will be coming from Northampton, or directly from an event in Shelburne Falls. Has a Northampton carpool formed yet?

    January 13, 2014

    • Nan

Yes Marci, one has formed. Are you interested in carpooling from there or from Barstow's? (It would be helpful if you could.) Nan

      January 13, 2014

    • Marci

I saw one from Northampton, but I have no idea what time or place they are leaving from. I am going up to Shelburne Falls for an event earlier in the day. I would have come last time, but I could only come for a short while, and the parking situation kept me away. I hate to have it happen again.

    Hi Nan,

    1. I'm open to carpooling in all its forms.
    2. I can be a driver.
    3. Northampton (I'd be coming from Easthampton)

    Thank you!

    January 4, 2014

    • Robin

Hi, I live in Easthampton too and could possibly carpool with you both. Not sure yet where I'll be coming from though. I can keep you posted on my plans.

I am coming from northwest ct, so I'm wondering how far of a drive it I'd to Hadley, as I've never been there

    December 29, 2013

    • Nan

Hi Lil, welcome! Northwest CT is a big place so I can't give you a very precise answer but can say it will be however long it takes you to get to the Northampton exit off I-91 plus 10 minutes. Hope this helps.... Nan

    Hi Nan and All,

    HAPPY 2014!

Pray this finds all well, warm, and dry.

My computer went into ubersafety modebout a month ago so I can't even get to the desktop. Someone I know supposed took at it but hasn't yet. Have very limited access elsewhere. So, please don't take my silence for disinterest. Yet, know that you won't hear much from me till this gets resolved.

You can contact me at[masked] if you desire. However, I will be gone Sat 1/4- 1/ 8. MANY BLESSINGS,

    STORM
