This is a group for musicians interested in getting together to play music. Intermediate to advanced skill level. The group is primarily for acoustic stringed instruments but we welcome electric bass, electric piano, and other electrified instruments but we play at an "unplugged" volume.  We also welcome brass and woodwinds, percussion, harmonicas, accordions, and 'purt near anythin'.

We pretty much stick to acoustic guitar-based music with styles and genres across the board including bluegrass, folk, western, Appalachian, country, country-rock, country-pop, country-blues, blues, and blues-rock - maybe "American Roots" sums it up.

Think "You Are My Sunshine" to "Knocking on Heaven's Door", Bill Monroe to The Band, old traditional songs from the 19th century to Roy Orbison, Robert Johnson to The Grateful Dead.

The roots of the group started with bluegrass music as a way for me to incorporate my learning the dobro guitar and playing it with other musicians.  We still play a good amount of bluegrass songs but we have morphed into something bigger, broader, and better.  The meetup was originally "Folsom Bluegrass Junction" but in deference to the fact that we are no longer strictly bluegrass, I've changed the name to "Folsom Music Junction."

We are still, however, a-pickin' and a-grinnin'!

We meet once a month and jam.  The jam is an "everyone plays" jam, that is, we take turns picking songs to play and everyone that wants to play can play and anyone that wants a turn playing a solo gets one.  It's loose, carefree, and joyous.  We make mistakes, we sometimes start a song over again, we laugh, we're not pretentious, egotistical, or concerned about our performance.

If this sounds like something you'd be able to hang with, join up, kick your shoes off, and play a spell!

Scott
