Our Meetup, Food as Medicine, will explore what practical information about food, nutrition and cooking is required to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Nutrition through a balanced diet is the way to improve health. This is part of what is called Green Medicine. Green Medicine uses food, herbs, and supplements as the tools of nutrition therapy in the war against disease. A few examples of Green Medicine: feverfew to treat migraines, glucosamine to treat arthritis, or St. John’s wort to treat depression can all be considered.
At our clinic, North County Functional Medicine and Nutrition, we practice Green Medicine as functional nutrition, which uses the latest scientific understanding about how our genetics, environment, and lifestyle interact. Functional medicine treats the person who has the disease, not the person’s disease.
This group is for those who are interested in learning to utilize food as medicine. Nature balanced the human body with food and herbs before conventional medicine began, so with the right instruction, it is easy to learn food as medicine. Anyone who wants to improve their overall energy and quality of life is welcome!
