Valley of the Moon Wine & Histoical Trek !

This is probably one of the most popular hikes(event).

It's rated as easy.  Leave  S. B & enter the private & historical Barthowlomew preserve. This is a hidden gem mostly known to locals. (It is also dog friendly) It is only available 3 days a week & needs special permission for certain groups.

We will start thru the gardens & see unusual trees & pass a bamboo grove next to huge Eucalyptus trees. Then into the forest & along fern lined creeks.  A short side spur visit to some small Miwok Indian caves & we start to climb a bit.  **Please watch for the perfect Xmas tree.   Then a stop near the top for great valley views.  On thru a lquiet redwood grove & a rest stop next to a frog filled forest lake.  In the Spring the dam overflow has beautiful hanging yellow flowers & some small waterfalls .

We will have our wine picnic under old valley oaks with serene  vineyard views.  A visit to the winery & museum is warranted.  This is where all wine growing was started in CA.  By Count Haraszthy from Hungary.

Then on to a hidden gate & a quick visit to Buena Vista winery.  this is the oldest commercial reserve winery in CA.   It was recently purchased by a wealthy french winemaker.  With a few million bucks he has rejuvenated  it & opened up the long closed wine caves.  A water Vortex was also added.

We will have one more nearby wine stop before our usual dinner option commences.

Will this be a fun day or what ?    BRING a LUNCH  !!! Or have Sonoma"s Best make you a great one.

What else do you get:  Water, Juice, Tea, Soda, Latte's, Energy Drinks, Trail Bars, Snacks, Gourmet Nut Packs, hiking poles, & wine at lunch.

$25

Wear good hiking shoes. And it can get pretty warm in that area.

I closed off the RSVP list as this event always gets so full. It's beautiful, & so much more. A Tour company would charge about[masked] for this if they could get permission for the property. I'm the only one allowed with a group over 8 people.
    Lucky us.
