Feeding homeless on the Market Street in San Francisco

Hello Volunteers,

Thank you so much for your generosity coming cooking and serving yesterday.

This coming Sunday March 16th. We will have a feeding event in San Francisco. I hope you can come join us have some fun. Here are details of the event.

Where: At the Gough and Market Street in SF

Time: The actual feeding will start from 3 to 5

But, for those of you can come early to prepare food should meet at my house at: 10307 Judy Ave, Cupertino, CA 95014 around 12:00 p.m..

For those of you who want to join us directly in Sf. Come meet us at: 1231 Stevenson St, San Francisco, CA 94103 at 3 p.m.

1231 Stevenson ST. is a Meditation Center called Shambhala Meditation Center. I got permission to use their center to prepare food. There are parking lots front and side of the center. This center is one block from Market and Gough )

What you can do: Since the meditation center doesn't have cooking stove, we should cook food at my house then take it to the center to warm up. I will try to find something can help us warm the food.

Our menu will be:

1. Sandwiches for homeless take with them. I have 12 bags bread left over from    yesterday. I do need more bread donation. If you can contribute bread (Whole wheat bread)  would be really nice.

2. Pasta. I do have past and sauce. I do need somebody donate ground beef or some kind of meet go with the pasta.

3. Tran is going to make fried rice.

4. Since we are giving food to the homeless on the street. We need lunch boxes. If you can donate some of lunch boxes would be also really nice.

5. We might get more food donation later this week. Then we will make decision what to cook with whatever we will get.

I really want to make this event more fun. We can go out afterward for a dinner together or any other fun advice feel free to let me know.

We are targeting 100 homeless people.

Thank you. And hopefully I will see most of you on Sunday. We can car pool together. I am giving James a ride. I also need help carry food.

Please contact me if you have any concerns and questions.

Kathleen, meet us at Damo's for carpooling. We will most likely leave there around 1:30 to make sure we get to SF on time for 3pm. Thanks for the bottled water. is that around 36 bottles? What size so that I can or others get same size. Of course, brings sweets

I'm going to Save Mart and get the 24pk 16.9oz size. It's 2/$5.00.

I can purchase 4cs of 24 bottles which is only 96 bottles. Cost should be $10.00 plus recycle fee and tax.

I would like to help with this. Can we carpool? As this will be my first time volunteering for this I'd prefer to go with someone. I can donate 3 cases of bottled water, a couple loafs of wheat bread and I'd like to make something sweet as well, if that is ok.

Yes Damo, I can be at your home around noon. Would it be ok to bring a friend or two or do we have enough volunteers?

      March 13, 2014

    • Damo

I have enough volunteer, but you can bring a friend. Most important thing is we should have fun. Right now, I have two people willing to drive. I will ask Linda, Donna and Yanika to see if they are coming. Right now, we have 9 people coming for sure.

This sounds like it is going to be an adventure. I am looking forward to it. I had fun on Sunday at InnVision. It was great to see everybody again and meet new people. Many thanks to David for his knife sharpening skills. Sunday was a great success. The amount of leftovers was very little compared to our past efforts and that was good to see. See you all soon.

Yes, Damo, I got your email but was waiting to reply as this getting so awesome! Right on, as far as any haircuts are involved as they'rarely given and quite necessary. I'll meet you in SF at the event on Sun. instead of Denice's since I'm quite close to caltrain and it seems much easier to go this way for everybody. I feel vulnerable but confident and look forward to helping out on this one.

I reallylook forward to this event. Considering that Damo & Chris started FFB in SF and I used to live on the streets there, I know that this is a definitely meditation in action!

Thank you Lorin and we will have some fun. Did you receive my e-mail?

      March 11, 2014

Please donate wheat or brown bread as they are easier to use with peanut butter. Damo, may be better to make cold pasta with veggies which will be easier to eat. I would suggest we bring bottled water so they can each have a bottle. I will keep track of the donations. I can donate the covered lunch boxes, 6 loaves of bread and some water. We should also include plastic fork inside the lunch box so they have a utensil to eat with.

Thank you so much Carmen as always for your thoughtful support.
