University Symphony Band (It's free!)

Another free event near the University of Michigan campus!

For those that are interested, let's meet in the downstairs lobby at 7:00pm for the pre-concert lecture. The lectures give context to the music, both for those in the music field and those who are not.

If you'd rather join us just for the concert, we'll pick seats on the mezzanine level, in section 7 or 8 (see below), as close to the front as we can get. Once we pick the seats, I'll stand and keep an eye out for those wanting to join us until it's show time.

"Michael Haithcock, conductor; H. Robert Reynolds, guest conductor; Featuring the Donald Sinta Saxophone Quartet and the “Moanin’ Frogs” Saxophone Ensemble.

Pre-concert lecture at 7:15 in the lower lobby with Michael Haithcock and friends. From Bach to Bernstein with points between and beyond, join the Symphony Band for a night of musical celebrations with a special tribute to Donald Sinta."

PROGRAM:
Lindroth – Spin Cycle
Bach/Cailliet – Fervent is my Longing and Fugue in G Minor
Daugherty – Raise the Roof, featuring Arlo Shultis, timpani
Bernstein/Bocook – Suite from “On the Waterfront”

Fantastic Performance!!! Sorry I missed you Anne, I was there with a guest and connected with Karin. We could designate a section where we'll be at in the future so everyone knows where to go. It was fairly crowded in the lobby this time.

I will certainly be at the lecture downstairs at 7:00pm. If I get off work early enough I'll be at Panera, too, but not before 6pm. call or text[masked] to connect. Brad

I will be there with a friend I probably won't make Panera but will meet in the lower lobby. Look forward to seeing everyone. Sorry for your loss, Josie, my condolences to you and your family!

Hi everyone - I sent a message last night, but just in case: I can't attend due to a death in the family. Please update with a comment about whether you'll be at Panera and the pre-concert lecture so Anne can know how many to expect. Thank you!

I'd like to know how many people are coming, so I can find a table for them at Panera.

That would be great, since I still have some money left on a Panera gift card. I ate there a few days ago, but I still have some credit left for another meal. :-) What the did you want to meet for dinner on Friday? Five seems like a good time, so that we have enough time to get to Hill Auditorium. ANNE

I work till 5, then I'll walk 0.5 miles to Panera, so I can be there by around 5:30. If you arrive before me, feel free to try to snag a large table/group of tables! Last time I was the first one there, but folks trickled in. The beauty of Panera is that it's fast- even if people arrive at 6:30, they have almost a full 30 minutes to eat.

The lecture starts at 7:15 and is a 2-minute walk from Panera.

I think it has worked out pretty well to meet at Panera for dinner beforehand. If anyone is interested, let's meet there again! If you're running late, you can still have an opportunity to grab a quick snack before the entertainment across the street.

Are you talking about the band concert at Hill Auditorium next Friday? Anne
