A Sunday Afternoon Walk in the Arb

We will walk ~3 miles on paths throughout the park. This is a walk on paths and not a "hike" through off trail portions of the park.  Please be on time.  The group will only wait 5 minutes for latecomers.

Meet at the entrance to the Arb near the new UMICH CS Mott Children's hospital and the Ronald McDonald house.  This is not the entrance near the ER of the main hospital.

Bring your camera.  As the flowers bloom you can take some really nice pictures.  The pictures shown here are actually mine.

FYI: Walk maybe canceled due to poor weather conditions.

Parking

There is a UMICH parking lot on your right as you are driving down Washington heights before you get to the Arb entrance (across form the Mary Markley dorm).  After 5pm weekdays and on Saturday and Sunday parking is free in the section that is "blue parking".  This is not the big dirt lot directly across the street from the arb (that is also Blue parking but 24 hrs).  Please read the signs for times that lot is available.

Do not park in the "gold parking" or in the Ronald McDonald House parking.  If lot is full, then the hospital parking is a block north for a small fee ($2/4hr).   Parking meters are $1.50/hr. The street is one way so if you pass the lot before seeing the entrance to the Arb, just go around the block.

Walk down the street to the Arb entrance.  http://www.lsa.umich.edu/mbg/files/Parking_instructions_Arboretum.pdf

I hope to schedule this weekly so if you can't come to this week's meetup, maybe you can come another week.

Don't worry. Josie was telling me a story and one line was 'Did you see the deer go across the path. ' I thought it was part of her story. I did not see a deer either.

It appears that a kid's summer camp is being picked up near the arb, so parking may be tough. Remember to go for hospital parking if need be.

If the free parking is full remember that you can park at the hospital lot for $2/4 hour. Do not park in gold parking, the Ronald Mcdonald house, or in the dirt lot that is blue parking labeled 24hrs. If you do park there, you risk getting a ticket. Meters should be free today on Sunday if you can find one open.

So I may have to leave early to go to the workshop at ToP. I hope to see you all there later for dinner, dancing and the movie afterward! Thanks Diane for making this an afternoon one!
