END OF THE RAINBOW - JUDY GARLAND's conflict & talent & early lunch in Chinatown

Judy Garland played by Tracie Bennett

The setting of End of the Rainbow is December 1968, and Judy Garland is about to make her comeback . . . again. In a London hotel room preparing for a series of concerts, with both her new young fiancé and her adoring accompanist, Garland struggles to get “beyond the rainbow” with her signature cocktail of talent, tenacity and razor-sharp wit. This savagely funny drama offers unique insight into the inner conflict that inspired and consumed one of the most beloved figures in American popular culture. End of the Rainbow features some of Garland’s most memorable songs, performed with the show-stopping gusto for which she will always be remembered.

REVIEW:

The West Coast premiere of End of the Rainbow is the beginning of a national tour of what Ben Brantley of The New York Times calls “. . . one of the most complete portraits of an artist I’ve ever seen . . .Watching Tracie Bennett’s electrifying interpretation of Judy Garland, you feel utterly alive. . . That’s what comes from witnessing acting that is this unconditionally committed, not to mention this sensational — in every sense of the word.”

I might not be able to come. That marathon may cause some problems. Maybe another time.

Do we buy tickets on our own, or together? What seating do you prefer: orchestra, balcony, etc?

Below is a link to the LA Marathon route which means possible street closures. However, the runners start at 7:30am, so they should be gone well before your lunch meeting time.

So we meet at the restaurant at 10:45? Why does the title say 1:00pm?

1:00PM is the showtime for End of the Rainbow. You can just go to see the show OR you can join us for an early lunch before the show in Chinatown. You don't have to go to both if you don't want to.
