Uncorked!: Wine Made Simple: Vol. 1

Wine connoisseurs and novices alike will appreciate this informative program hosted by food and wine expert Ted Allen. The acclaimed PBS series teaches viewers everything they've ever wanted to know about wine. Each step of winemaking is thoroughly explained from harvesting to bottling and, finally, to tasting. In this first volume, visit vineyards in Napa Valley, the heart of California's wine country.

The documentary will be shown on a home theater screen that is 12 feet high and 16 feet wide in full stereo sound.  The movie is one hour long.  This is the first installment in a series of three in the 'Uncorked!' series.

What to bring: Bring a California wine AND an appetizer. No two buck chuck wines or any wines valued less than $15. The appetizer should feed about 8 people.  Sorry, but no potato chips and dips please.  All appetizers must be home-made, no store bought stuff, we want some good serious grub.

Paper plates, plastic cups, paper napkins and plastic forks Will Not be used at this event. You will eat with real plates, real wine glasses, restaurant-grade white linen tablecloths and white linen napkins.

We will have a wine tasting, eat the appetizers, clean up.....then watch the movie.

Ground Rules: This is a private residence; therefore, a photo is required on your Meetup profile...No exceptions.  Your ID may be checked to verify that you are over the age of 21.

Please post what your appetizer is when you RSVP.

No guests are allowed for this event, all attendees must be members of LA Foodies.

Contact me directly if you have any questions.

    Hi Mitch and et all,
Since you asked, here's the recipe for the kale salad - http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/aarti-sequeira/massaged-kale-salad-recipe/index.html, and the Moroccan Spicy Shrimp - http://fishcooking.about.com/od/shrimprecipe1/r/maroc_shrimp.htm. I made some minor variations and tried to use as much organic ingredients as possible as I think it adds to the flavor of the dish. Enjoy!
