Free Day at Natural History Museum of Los Angeles

  • May 7, 2013 · 10:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Join me on this First Tuesday for a photo day at the museum. This will be my first time at the museum as well. You can tour the museum with the group or on your own. There's food vendors with reasonably priced food or we can decide to have a potluck lunch if the group wishes.

Potluck Picnic Friendly Museum: If you’re bringing your own food, we invite you to picnic under the trees on the grass in front of the Museum, or on the picnic benches overlooking the Rose Garden adjacent to the Museum. Chichen Itza is also close by, .7 mile.

Once a month they have Free admission on the First Tuesday which is normally $12.. There is a butterfly pavilion and a spider pavilion.. And if you have never been to this place you have no idea what you are missing..

For Butterfly Pavilion and Spider Pavilion: Adults: $3.00, Seniors/Students: $2.00, and Children: $1.00

Directions

The Natural History Museum is located in Exposition Park at 900 Exposition Boulevard between Vermont Avenue and Figueroa Street.

Due to our own construction on the front side of the Museum, our directions avoid Exposition Blvd. east of Vermont.

From the Westside
10 East, exit Vermont Ave., turn right. Left onto Exposition Blvd. Museum is on the right.

From the South
110 North, exit Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., turn left. Right on Bill Robertson Lane (formerly Menlo Ave.). Parking lot is on the left; Museum is on the right.

From Pasadena, Downtown
110 South, exit Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., turn right. Right on Bill Robertson Lane (formerly Menlo Ave.). Parking lot is on the left; Museum is on the left.

Public Transportation: The museum has great public transit access from the Metro Blue Line or bus lines. Use Google Maps for public transit options.

Parking

Parking is available for $8 in the Museum’s Car Park on Exposition Blvd. and Bill Robertson Lane. If the Car Park is full, patrolled lots are also available directly across from the Museum on Bill Robertson Lane for $10 (cash only), as well as in lots throughout Exposition Park. Parking rates and availability may vary during special events in Exposition Park. NHM has designated parking during USC games.

Be prepared: the Museum’s parking lot accepts cash only.

Recovering from a cold. If its raining, I will probably not attend, so this may become a no host event.

Can someone take over as host? I wouldn't mind if necessary....

Will there be a way to identify the group when we arrive and is it possible to catch you all if I need to arrive after 10a?

I really hope I do not have to babysit this day...I'd really love to see this museum. Taking the Gold Line to the Purple Line to the Expo Line.
