This is a fun event that will be our 7th time here! It's Zorba Dance Contest Night! Friday night from 5pm to 11pm, you can dance, dance... DANCE! Friday is free admission, Sat/Sun there is an admission fee of $5. Guess no more free Fridays. Here's the pics from last year!

Great food prices and drink prices! http://www.lagreekfest.com/food.html

A few years ago, a few MiLA friends and we sat at a table next to our Mayor Antonio, Tom Hanks and his lovely wife Rita Wilson and I got to meet and chat with Rita and Nia Vardalos, star of My Big Fat Greek Wedding. But they will probably not be here on Friday, I am pretty sure they will be here on Saturday if you want to see them. Took a few photos with the celebs and my friends and we enjoyed some good food, drink and music. The mayor only stayed for a short time so his staff gave our table a whole bunch of desserts courtesy of the festival freebies... SCORE! Hollywood’s favorite super-star couple Tom Hanks & Rita Wilson will once again serve as honorary chairs and celebrity guest hosts of this year’s L.A. Greek Fest  Tom and Rita are great friends, and part of the Cathedral family, and they’re lending their star power to our festival so that the people of the Southland can appreciate all the fun & excitement of the Greek Islands – right here in the city of the angels.” Saint Sophia Cathedral is where the LA Greekfest will be held.

WHERE TO MEET: THIS IS A NO HOST EVENT ALL WEEKEND, COME AND GO AS YOU PLEASE. Bring a friend!

Below is a pic I shot of our former Mayor, my buddy Hillary and movie star Nia Vardalos.

While this is about as close as I've been to Greece, so with the delicious Mediterranean foods, olive oils and their Ouzo... I've always wanted to visit their islands. So, until then, I'll have to settle with this day of Greekness. Where to meet: Go inside the gate and look for the I suggest you get there at 5pm if you can when it first opens so you can sample the food at its freshest and a good shot at free parking. This also gives you time to explore the festival before meeting with the group. Papa Cristos is located across the street!

Saturday and Sunday, feel free to attend on your own. The celebs will probably be there on Saturday night, but hey, I like the free Friday night admission so I spend the extra bucks on OUZO! Saturday is the best time to see the Celebs and they usually hang out at the Taverna Tables as well before they make their public presentations, awards and announcements. At 6:00 pm there will be a DJ and at 8:30 there will be a Zorba Dance Contest. If I manage to drink enough Ouzo, who knows what might happen? Friday Night is Zorba Night and is the only free admission night so the only cost is for whatever you eat, drink or buy at the festival. Sat/Sun admission is $5.00.  Tom Hanks and his lovely wife/actress Rita Wilson usually are the Honorary Hosts. The website is not up yet.

Their new website is da Bomb!  Experience the Greek culture through architecture, dance, theatre, music and delicious food, wine, Greek beer, Ouzo and Metaxa!!!! Oh yeah! The LA Greek Festival will feature traditional Greek dancing, music, live theatrical presentations, storytellers from the homeland, cooking demonstrations, and of course the culinary delicacies of Greece, which include roasted lamb, sausage, kalamari, saganaki, baklava and much more. Did I mention Ouzo and Metaxa? Fabulous Greek Food Delicious Greek Pastries Authentic Greek Beer Wine, Ouzo and Metaxa Live Greek Music Greek Folk Dancing Greek Theatrical Presentation Greek Gift Items Greek Cooking Demo Live Latino Music All about the Ouzo... http://www.lesvos.com...

More about Metaxa, a brandy/cognac type liquor, also known as the Nectar of the Gods...

You can buy tickets at the door... Most people will be paying at the door... Try to arrive early if you will be buying tickets at the door just in case.

Had fun at the Greek fest tonight! Wanted to go on Friday, as it used to be that the first night was free entrance. Turns out that is no longer the case. But I got to have Spanikopita for dinner, and Baklava for dessert. Also sat in on an audio tour of the cathedral. So breathtakingly beautiful!

I just bought a ticket online for Saturday Night. I haven't seen Tom Hanks, Rita and Nia for a few years as I'd usually go on Fridays as the admission was free or a buck, but now it is $5 and I'm busy on Friday anyway so Saturday it is. If you are one of the first 100 to buy a ticket online, you are supposed to get a free Uber ride... a social media taxi service, sorta... So, I bought my tix but didn't get confirmation about the free Uber ride and have emailed them. But the offer was posted 9 hrs before I bought my ticket early this morning and I can't image over 100 people buying a ticket because most people don't even know what Uber is...
