It's Group Ride & Dine Time Again!
This is a fun and whacky ride with a few riders in crazy costumes and all kinds of interesting people and bikes. While it is a long ride, it's at a very social pace and there's very little uphill... it's almost all flat land and the pace is slow to moderate as this is a huge group. Spring and Summer, the group gets gigantic and as large as 3,000 cyclists! Let's meet at the Station and try to ride together.
The ride ends around 11:00pm to Midnight at the Sunset/Western intersection and from there, we will bike to a local Hollywood restaurant. If we pass by the restaurant @ 10:30pm or later, let's skip the finish and head to our chosen dining venue. This way, anyone using the Metrorail after the ride will be able to join us for our well deserved after ride meal.
Tonight we will dine at:
5170 Hollywood Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90027
After the ride, we will hit Sanamluang Cafe which is open until 4am. There is free corkage and BYOB. There's a liquor store across the street or a Ralphs a few blocks East so if members want, we can get some booze before getting to the restaurant and we don't need to buy beforehand and carry it around with us all night.
The last Metro Train is around 2:30am on Fridays so that everyone can enjoy the late night eats before heading home if you are taking the Metro.
Tonight's ride, they are expecting around 3000 cyclists, a full 50-60 LAPD escort and it will be a blast rolling through the red lights like Prez Obama. January, we rode all over Downtown, Little El Salvador, WeHo's Santa Monica Bl. and along Hollywood Blvd between Highland and Western Ave, not stopping for any red lights with our police escort and during the Friday Nite's prime hours when normally the traffic is horrific... We also rode thru Thaitown, Little Armenia, Mid-Wilshire, Koreatown and all points between while the group takes over the streets of L.A. and it's so much fun! The ride does start EXACTLY on time... 7:29pm. If you are fashionably late, you will miss the ride! So... get here at around 7pm and be ready to ride at 7:29pm.
FYI 3+ hours of moderate biking will burn around[masked] calories so you should bring a couple energy bars, water, windbreaker, gloves, bike lock, helmet, spare tube etc. If the weather is hot, bring extra water.
Rain Cancels ~ Check the weather here the morning of the ride
Meeting Location is in front of the CALIBER HOME LOANS sign near the stairs.
