I haven't been to the LA County Fair in well over 10 years! Maybe I need to buy another Ginzu knife? Or a left handed spatula? Or eat... well, at least look at all the crazy deep fried foods or munch on some of the awesome Indian corn on the cob...
Haha... I really did buy a left handed spatula at the LA County Fair...
This is a great place to bring your camera and take lots of candids/street/lifestyle images... and you won't feel out of place if you bring a real camera with you...
Opening weekend, admission is only a buck before 1pm! Take the Metrolink train to the L.A. County Fair! There's free shuttle service from the fairgrounds to the train station. Hassle free r/t train ride for $10. If you've never taken a train from Union Station, arrive 30-45 minutes before 9:00am to insure you find the right station. The $10 Metrolink pass is also good for all buses and Metrorail in addition to the Metrolink.
There's a bunch of free or special exhibits (additional cost) such as the Star Trek exhibit, Mermaid, NHRA Museum...
Groupon is sponsoring a wine tasting and an olive oil tasting!!!
If you are near the Antelope Valley Metrolink route, the cost is still only $10 for 4 train rides!
DETAILS: Meet at the Metrolink San Bernadino Platform to take the 354 train. Arrive EARLY as the train waits for no one! I'll be taking the Metro Red Line from Hollywood to Union Station and probably hop on the Red Line around 8am to arrive there at about 8:20am and it will take me maybe 10 minutes to buy my Metrolink ticket and maybe grab a cup of joe at Starbucks and then get to the SB Platform by around 8:30am.
There's a 4pm and the last Metrolink train returns to Union Station at 7pm. If you miss the train, you can also take the Foothill Transit bus back to Union Station (I think).
After we arrive back at Union Station... if the group is still together, we might grab a lobster dinner in Chinatown if people are game...
