Pupusas! Tamals! Tacos! Huraches! Salvadorean & Mexican Dining ~ Hollywood

This place has some excellent food garnering 4.5 Stars on Yelp. I LOVE pupusas and I know of some great places down on Beverly Blvd. We've done pupusas crawls there a few times in the past. But, I'd love to find a good Salvi place close to home! I scheduled an event here in September but was unable to go to it but the members raved about the place, so I still want to go! They garner 4.5 Yelp stars! Plus it's a stone's throw from K&L Wines. Most of the Salvi joints don't sell tacos. But this place does and served up with handmade to order tortillas to boot!

This place is yet another cheap eats place with pupusas priced at $2-2.25 each and I saw one made with jalapenos... YES some heat! Tacos from $1.35 If you only eat pupusas and tacos... you'd be hard pressed to spend more than $7 for dinner...

They have plantains, yuca and all kinds of eats that I'd like to sample.

This can be family style dining and the bill will be shared equally (if everyone agrees or not) excepting people will pay additional for their own drinks or non-shared dishes.

One old Yelp review says we can BYOB!!! I may bring a cerveza or two to enjoy with dinner.

Dinner last night at La Numero Uno in Hollywood. It was great. Free corkage, just drink on the d/l. no bottles on the table please, but they let us keep our beers in their fridge... I ordered a $2.25 shrimp taco. which was so-so. Tasted okay but not much meat, probably will not order again. Their tacos were a bit skimpy on the meat compared to my fav taco trucks. The daily special was excellent which was a large plate of chicken, onion and peppers with bacon that come with 3 hand made tortillas, rice and refried black beans. They also make their own tortillas to order. I'd pass on the Mexican dishes and only go for the Salvadorean dishes... The curtido was okay but very fresh, not as fermented as I like, but it was present. I'd rate this place as a Salvi place at about 3.5 Yelp stars plus 1/2 star for free corkage/byob or a total of 4 stars. They had at least 5 different hot sauces/sauces... from mild to wild with an XXtra hot habanero sauce. Homey little 35 seater.

Alambre translated means wire... some refer to the melted cheese "legs" as the wire in the dish, some mean cooking the ingredients on wire/metal skewers... My "Alambres de Pollo" was cooked griddle style or fajita style.

Do you think we can bring our own beers/wines?

YES! One review said it was okay to byob, no fee. But worst case, they tell us to put it away. Welcome back!

Their "Loroco" pupusa is the best pupusa I've ever had! That Cheese & Jalapeno one looks yummy :)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
