KoreaTown Night Market ~ Premiere Event

Love the idea of a Ktown Night Market. I'm hopeful they won't have the problems the 626 Night Market had their 1st event. I'm excited that it is close to home and who doesn't love Korean food!

KTOWN Night Market will take place in Koreatown on April 18 from 4 p.m. to midnight and April 19 from 2 p.m. to midnight. This is a NO HOST event, so if you want to meetup with some other members post what time you plan to be there so others can look for you. Expect it to be mobbed on Saturday night... So personally my plan is to attend Friday around opening time to avoid the crush of the Asian invasion...

Forgot to mention... Free Admission!

Get ready for a grub fest! Koreatown, our little slice of heaven for delicious Korean food, will be home to the first ever KTOWN Night Market come this spring.

KTOWN Night Market will take place from April 18 to April 19 at Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools, which used to be the Ambassador Hotel off of Wilshire Blvd. This outdoor (and free!) event will have over 100 booths selling food and merchandise. The food will "represent the full breadth of multi-ethnic street cuisine from Los Angeles and Orange County," according to a statement from KTOWN Night Market.

What's even more exciting is that the folks from Seoul Sausage Company on the Westside (who won Season 3 of Food Network’s The Great Food Truck Race) will be curating the food trucks at the event. (We trust their taste since their food is top notch.) There will also be live entertainment performers and carnival games.

I love food festivals but was busy at work, didn't go

    April 20, 2014

very disappointed. I thought it was going to be a festive, open event--just a bunch of trucks and uninteresting vendors.

In general, I don't like foodfests... this one was better than most of the previous ones I've attended... but yes, you can get a better meal for less at any number of restos in Ktown...

Darrell, They give the food away if you stick around til 11:30 near closing time. Or they sell at 90% off. You can get it real cheap then...Just figured it out. They were selling at 2 fers when I left.

Parking was crazy, I did find a spot. Loooooonnnnnggg line to get in. Looonnnggg lines for food. Okay for first time. Overwhelmed with the crowds. Food is similar to what you can get at Korean mall food courts. I did go past food trucks and tried food at the tents. At least I tried this once.

Is it worth the trip to go to this?

It's worth the trip if you've never been to an Asian night market before. Once you've been to one, they are pretty similar. I wouldn't go back again since I can get much better food at different restaurants at reasonable price with shorter wait time.

    it sounds like awful reviews.

Ktown Nite Market. When you first enter you will see a bunch of food trucks and the long lines... skip the trucks. Go to the food tents on the left towards the back. Food is better and cheaper and shorter lines. The skewers look great... several okonomiyaki vendors... Korean fried chicken... We ate at the trucks and we were full before discovering the food tent vendors which has a great variety of foods...
If you cannot get here early, expect a nightmare for parking... Take the Metro and walk 3 blocks... much faster than trying to find a parking space...

    3 · April 19, 2014

  • Darrell

See my review and photos on our Facebook page...

Because we were in the first 150 people to enter, the lines were not too bad, after I left, it was a non stop stream of people entering the festival...

Worth it? If you are a festival lover... yes, it was a decent first effort. BUT... you can get a better meal for less at a KBBQ restaurant for less... https://www.facebook.com/groups/5156843852/

Metro is highly recommended as the RFK Learning Complex is only 3 blocks west of the Vermont & Wilshire Station (Red, Purple) and 2 blocks east of the Normandie & Wilshire Station (Purple). I'd expect chaos re: parking for this first event...
