In Search Of... The Best Tacos

  • El Parian

Ahhhhh... Tacos... comfort food for many, even those of us not of Hispanic descent. While browsing around I came across some blogs and reviews that totally rave about El Parian which is a small taco house right off the 110 freeway and Pico Blvd. Close to downtown, this place looks ripe for a mid-week Meetup lunch so you Downtown CubeHeads might be able to sneak out for a couple of tacos. The reviews recommend the Carne Asada and the Birria (Goat) tacos and they are supposed to be big and at $2.75/piece sounds filling. So here we go. I'll start it off small for a group of 6, but if there's lots of people who can join us on this day, please RSVP NO and write in the comment box you want to go and I can add you. Normally this is not a part of LA I'd choose to hold an event, but it just so happens I have business to attend to a few blocks away which is why the mid-week works for me. El Parian 1528 W. Pico Blvd. Los Angeles Ca 90015 (213)[masked] Mon-Fri 8am-930pm Weekends 9am-930pm The reviews

Our first event with 100% attendance! I would have liked our 1st event to be a much grander place and with lots more members but let's just call this event a tune up event, to work out all the bugs. Met two people new to Meetup and of course to this new group. Everybody arrived about the same time and we ordered the Carne Asada and the Birrira (goat) soft tacos and Ilane ordered the Carne Asada burrito but I think she received the carnitas. That burrito was nearly as big as her head! It was huge! The burrito, NOT her head! The chips & salsa were mild salsa and the chips needed more salt... this is coming from someone that almost never uses a salt shaker. I felt the tacos were a bit too greasy. The tortillas were fresh made and delicious, the tacos were very good, but needed a touch more salt for my taste but the excellent company made for an excellent lunch!
