Kayak Class Level 1

This is an ACA Level 1 Certified Class.  We'll learn primary skills like boat control, and different strokes, forward, back, side, stopping, bow rudder, wind control, edging, and many other skills.

The second part of the class is Rescue and Re-entry.  It's not a matter of IF you fall out of your boat, but rather WHEN.  We'll learn and practice self rescue as well as buddy rescues.

We have a lot of fun and it is a wet class. Build your confidence and skill and feel more secure and safe.

There's not charge for this class for members who's dues are up to date.  Trial memberships, Non-members, and guests are asked to pay a $50 administration fee. There will be certificates awarded for successful completion of the class.

You'll need a boat, PFD, Paddle, Water for hydration.  There are no facilities at this location.

(This is not a roll class)

Seriously, how does she look this morning? She was so into it & determined. But you know what? She did it. I can't do that kind of rescue.Something about too fat ('er, I mean TOP heavy)

She is fine, and yes, she is very determined. She gets feisty when challenged.

David, thanks a lot! I can't wait to show off what I've learned, specially the "ride 'em cowboy" technique lol! And, thanks Janet, Connie, Anna, Brian, and Ned for a great time!

Great experience with a good group. David thanks so much for letting me join in. Always good to see Ned Anna and Brian, great to get to know Janet and to meet Ann and Mark. I really did learn a lot and finally got the go backwards without going in a circle! Proud of myself for getting back in with my rescue buddy. Still have "some" upper body strength. Maybe I will try to "ride the horse" next time!!!!!!! You made the day fun David, Many thanks.

I'm responding for Janet. She wants to do this class. I have to work. Also, if someone wants to use my boat, paddle, and PDF, Janet will bring it with her. My yak is a perception 11 footer recreational. Just drop me a message if you want to use it. Janet may need some help unloading and loading.

    April 2, 2014

Christy just got a nice one. A Tsunami 120. I know there's a couple available at Outdoor Supply on 127 in Hickory, next to Hobby Lobby. Don't know how much or anything. You might ck that out. Remember on accessories we get 10% discount so paddles, PFDs, pumps, clothes, gear, camping, etc.
Uh oh, now I sound like a commercial... but wait... there's more...
