Paddle Kualoa Park(Chinaman's hat) to Kahana Bay and up Kahana Stream. 4.7 mile

Kualoa Beach Park to Kahana Bay 4.7 miles + 1 mile up the stream - a short paddle so great trip for new paddlers.

Our outing for this Saturday, November 9, will be from Kualoa Beach Park to Kahana Bay. For this outing we will be paddling up the east side of the island, inside the reef past beautiful Kaawa valley to Kahana Bay.  Forecast for Saturday is for 15 MPH trade winds so we’ll have on shore winds and be able to paddle inside the reef and enjoy an easy, scenic outing.

At Kaawa Valley, there is a great little surf spot where we can catch small to medium size waves, so it’ll be a good spot to spend a bit of time polishing up on all of our surf skills and having some fun.

When we get to Kahana Bay, we'll  paddle into the stream and follow it up as far as we can go. This is a very unusual and fun event for Oahu. People have likened it to paddling, like the African Queen, up a jungle river (without the crocks, leaches and mosquitoes).

So, as for trip details………………..

Meet this Saturday Morning, November 9, at 8 AM at Kualoa Beach Park in the parking lot near the first restroom building.

Shuttle cars will leave for the end point at Kahana at 8:20 AM, and we’ll paddle away from the beach at 9 AM.  We should finish up at around noon.

If conditions hold as they are supposed to, it’ll be a good outing with 15 MPH trades. I’ll look forward to seeing you all there!

As always: know your capabilities, limits, the conditions and check your equipment before you go. Sun Screen, hat and water are a must. Sun glasses, gloves and dry bag are a good idea. Remember to stay in sight of the group and tell others if you are leaving. You alone are responsible for your health and safety. To check conditions, go to:http://www.surfnewsnetwork.com/  and check the surf and wind forecast to see what it’s saying at that time. Then, knowing the latest forecast, we can all make the decision about whether to come out for this paddle or to go for a paddle somewhere else, or stay home and clean the yard. Be sure to check the Meetup – Hua Iki web site for any changes and updates and to change your RSVP if you change your mind.

Weather forecast is for scattered rain all morning over Kaneohe. Does that effect plans?

Hi Charlotte, Bummer you didn't get out with us. I looked at the MU site before you posted this morning. Conditions were a bit rainy and windy to start, but cleared up and moderated a lot shortly after we started. Ended up being a really fun paddle with 5 enthusiastic paddlers! Check the site sometime tomorrow and you should be able to see some pics of the trip. Hope to see you on the next one!

Do we need our own equipment? This is my first time coming to one of these meet ups. Is there anything specific I will need aside from what you listed in the meet up description?
