Abandon lot forage & learn how plants can rehabilitate the land & picnic

Join me, The Baltimore Orchard Project and Charm City Farms for a fruit tree planting on this abandoned lot, planting starts at 4 and we will demo how to plant and care for bare root fruit trees. Or, come for the forage and picnic. Scott Kashnow and the community have big plans for this lot and I will be discussing how some of our native plants can help bring the soil back to vitality. I'll be using expensive words like bioaccumulators and dynamicaccumulators. We will go over some of the basic plants, but in a little more detail. Chicory, clover, mulberry and Japanese Knotweed will be found. If I can get some of my more fluent plant enthusiasts there I'm sure we can get into a lot more. Bring a foraged food or something from your garden for a little picnic and chatter.

If you do come for the tree planting please bring a shovel, if you have one, a water bottle and gloves. FYI we may get into a little more then tree planting if time and hands allow.

Hope to see some of you there!

Eric

My mother tried to teach me as a youth. Unfortunately that did not seem very interesting "back then". Now that I am really VERY interested - she is no longer alive. I am so thrilled to have found a local group that can teach me. I am currently clueless about all foraging. Soooooo I can use everybody's help. I am also dragging my husband and boy scout teenager. We are all looking forward to the event. If the rabbits have not eaten everything out of my garden before the 19th - I will bring fresh treasures.
