Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone has some good suggestions on field guides to purchase for identifying wild edilble plants. I know that some of them have horrible pictures which makes it nearly useless when it comes to identification. Thanks for your help.

Peterson Field guide for Wild edibles and the one for Medicine is good. Newcomb guide to wildflowers is a good one for identification. I think most field guides are decent for plant ID. The description is more important than the picture. If you try to ID plants by photo alone it is easy to get them mixed up. Samual Thayer's books are excellent desk references for foragers. I have and use all the Peterson field guides and the Audubon field guides.
