Join outdoor writer Joe McFarland and internationally known mycologist Gregory Mueller for an exciting afternoon learning about summertime wild Illinois mushrooms.
The authors of 'Edible Wild Mushrooms of Illinois' will give an approximately 90 minute presentation about summer mushrooms that we are likely to find in our region, how to safely identify them, and how to find them. And then we'll be out the door and into the woods to find and identify mushrooms! Mushroom specimens will be collected for identification and teaching purposes only - but you'll leave the class with the skills and confidence to begin foraging and harvesting on your own.
Following the class you'll have the opportunity to purchase copies of McFarland and Mueller's book for $5 off the list price.
