It's our first meetup of 2013!

Happy New Year, DUG members!

It’s time for our monthly Bay Area Salesforce DUG meetup! This month we’re having a developer-driven, design-sharing, Q&A session where you get to strut your stuff, ask questions or just take a moment to share something that interests you with the group (preferably technical in nature, but the mic is open!)

Bring your laptop, code and tough questions for Force.com developers to help you with! Share your personal approach to scaling, governor limits or testing without tears. Are you proud of your clean, elegant and maintainable code? Share it! Have a trigger design pattern that you feel is superior? Bring it!

*Bonus: Don Robins of ForceMentor has agreed to give us a walkthrough of leveraging Visualforce and Apex for Force.com mobile web development! Here’s a sample of some of the fantastic work Don has produced in this area: Developing Mobile Applications with Force.com and Sencha Touch.

Agenda:

6:00 – 6:30: Networking
6:30 – 7:00: Don Robins on mobile with Force.com
7:00 – 7:30: Developer design share / Q&A
7:30 – 7:45: Break
7:45 – 8:15: Developer design share / Q&A
8:15 – 8:30: Jobs offered/wanted & networking

Hope to see you there!

For anyone still working with the Sencha Touch and Force.com tutorial, Raghu stumbled across an important issue. If your org has ANY installed packages, you MUST reference the Apex controller name in your JavaScript with your org's namespace. If you fail to do this, you will get a a JavaScript error that the Apex controller can NOT be found! This is a JavaScript remoting consideration - much thanks to Raghu for pointing it out! I'd still love to hear back from anyone working on the tutorial and hear how it's been. Thanks in advance! Also, Part 3 is on the wiki, though not exposed yet. You can find it at:

    Hi everyone,
We're currently in the process of building and releasing an app for AppExchange and we thought we would try to put together a guide to help others who are interested in building apps for Salesforce. http://www.salesforceguide.terr...

If you have any thoughts, feedbacks, corrections, please let us know and we'd be happy to add it. (We'll also add you as contributors as well!)

    Thanks!
    Lou

Hi the issue mentioned by Don below was that field level security was not enabled for MobileNumber I fixed it by enabling field level security for my profile.

Hey team...Michael reported an issue when dong Part 2 of the tutorial. He does it have standard field named MobilePhone on his Lead object in his org. I used what I found in a developer edition instance. If you run into a similar issue, create a custom field on the object and simply adjust the Sencha app model to match your new field name, and insure it's included in the Apex private method containing the SOQL query which should now include the new field, and remove any references that aren't working...that should fix the problem. Consider it an addendum to exercise. :) Keep me posted as to progress!

Do you have an agenda for the meeting ? I have a conflict with another meetup in the bay area and trying to weigh whether to attend that or drive to sfo. Rough agenda or few lines will suffice.
