It was lively and insiteful. I was happy to see that I was not the only who had trouble with the book. THe questions were difficult and my group often strayed from the questions with other insites.

Sometimes you can have a really good discussion about a book you may not have like or that was confusing. I'm glad you got something out of it.

I actually now like the book because of the discussion!

I got halfway through the book and gave up. Too many story lines, too many characters with confusing Russian names, and just too frustrating to try to follow. Maybe it's just me.

The rest of the month of August doesn't work for me, but I would like tg join the next book discussion. Please keep me posted.
Also I understand from Marc's note I can use the free softwae Calibre. As I don't have a kindle yet could some one tell me how I could download the next book?

    Thank you.

Aside from this one-off, though, books typically selected by this group are purchased in regular stores or borrowed from the library. E-versions are likewise bought from Amazon or barnesandnoble.com or borrowed from libraries (which is something that can be done with e-readers).

It is available to borrow as an ebook from the NYPL, which Queens residents can join in addition to the Queens Library system.

Here's a link to annotations for each chapter, photos of all the places mentioned in the novel, and a lot of other interesting information about the author and this book. http://www.masterandmargarita.eu/en/02themas/aantekeningen.html

Thanks for the posting Isabelle. I've been using the annotations as I read each chapter. Really adds to the depth of the book. :.)

I believe I RSVPed yes for this event. I don't know how to change that to a no. For whatever reason I just could not get into this book, no matter how much I tried. I look forward to the next meet-up.

I was able to access Mark"s email re: M & M book (PDF) and then lost it. How do I get it back again?

    July 23, 2013

    • Marc G.

If you want the PDFs, they are in the Files section of this site. If you want Kindle versions, e-mail me at [masked] and I'll attach the files (the book and the set of notes) in a reply.

Sadly, Wednesday doesn't work for me. Hope there is another Monday meeting coming up.

The fourth Wednesday of the month is our normal day, but we shift it once in a while due to holidays or if I have a conflict. I'm sorry if it's not a good day for you. We may also do a few movie nights in the fall (film versions of books we've read recently), and those will probably be other weeknights.

Hi folks . . . I just uploaded to the Files section of this site two PDFs; one is an English translation of Master and Margarita, the other is a set of Notes for the book (sort of like Spark Notes). If you want to convert them into e-book format, you can do so via the amazon facility (for Kindle users) or on your own using the free shareware program Calibre. Or, for Kindle users (or Kindle app users), you could simply e-mail me at [masked] and ask me to send you copies of the Kindle-ready files (MOBI format) I already made. Just "side load" them into your Kindle (i.e. using the USB connection).
