upcoming book group meetings

Hello everyone,

RSVPs are open for our Wed., July 21 meeting, where we will discuss The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood. We'll meet at Istanbul Restaurant in Rego Park at 7 p.m.
Penelopiad book discussion

The Penelopiad is a retelling of some of the events from The Iliad and The Odyssey from the perspective of Penelope, Odysseus' wife. If you have never read The Iliad or The Odyssey or read them quite some time ago, it would be helpful to refresh your memory by looking up the plots of those works on wikipedia or elsewhere. I don't think it's necessary to (re)read them, however -- unless you really want to!

On Wed., August 25 we'll discuss The Gods Themselves by Isaac Asimov. A restaurant will be chosen soon. And our September book will be The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery -- the date will be announced soon.
