Ia Drang Valley

The Battle of Ia Drang was the first major battle between regulars of the United States Army and regulars of the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN / NVA) of North Vietnam during the Vietnam War. The two-part battle took place between November 14 and November 18, 1965, at two landing zones (LZs) northwest of Plei Me in the Central Highlands of South Vietnam (approximately 35 miles south-west of Pleiku) as part of the U.S. airmobile offensive codenamed Operation Silver Bayonet. The battle derives its name from the Drang River which runs through the valley northwest of Plei Me, in which the engagement took place. "Ia" means "river" in the local Montagnard language.

NOTE:

Operators will be assigned as Red or Blue Team. The scenario will be played base on the above event. No uniform requirement. Operators will be given an arm band to signify their team affiliation.

Want to say thanks to the groug for a great day! It made a great first impression, both myself and friend Stout had a good time. Special thanks to Grim Reaper (Red Team leader) for being professional using his past experience both airsoft/military to run scenerios proficiently. Shout out to Spectre with whom my friend Stout ran with on the Blue Team. It was his first time out and Spectre helped him to enjoy the time and see what airsoft is all about....thank you Sir. And last but not least to Gemlee.......great organization, I know it takes a lot of work to put these meetings together....will be out more on a regular basis.
I was designated as a squad leader for Alpha (Red Team) or should say volunteered and was able to run my team with the respect of the game. Boulder, I am sorry for the experience you had with the "No call hit" issue that drove you to leave early. As a player and team leader I will always encourage fair play to ensure our sport grows in a positive direction. Hooah??

The skirmish was one of the better ones I have been to in a while. It felt like a full blown event at times. The scenarios were simple and even though it was pushed more towards a milsim feel I saw everyone getting a lot of trigger time in. Overall it was good day. Good to see some new faces and the old ones too.

    2 · April 1, 2013

  • THE B.

Love the field good job by admins for the most decent day however there were more then few zombies out there if your intentions are to be a dishonorable player and just not call your hits do the rest of us a favor and stay home this is the only time ive left a game because two players out and out cheated so badly that before I left everyone was complaining about the same two people.

    2 · March 30, 2013

    • Gemlee

Noted. Boulder, veterans such as you need to educate this folks so they can assimilate to the airsofting culture....Honor/Courage/Intestinal Fortitude.

      1 · March 31, 2013

    • THE B.

Unfortunately although I fully agree some people can't or refuse to be taught/educated to play with honor I wish there was a better way to help them along the path but it seems that shooting their face off is the only thing that works, I'm not going to quit coming out and I'm not going to stoop to their level to make a point I can only hope that they try to emulate the honorable players around them in the future. As you know leaving early for me is a rare thing I usually make sure to say my goodbyes to the other vets I've played along side for the past six or more years and the new players I meet on a weekly basis. If I find this person with his team at my field they will be asked to leave I have discussed this with reaper and until I first hand see or second hear from a trusted player that their behavior has improved they will not be welcome at P.R.A.T. Field.

That was an awesome game today. Just wanted to say thank you to everyone there for helping make it a good time. I really liked how the entire field was used, and also felt that the scenarios themselves played out well. Thanks for putting on a great game, and I look forward to the next one.

I enjoyed the scenario. The only thing I wasn't happy about was bringing an M16A4 to play as the North Vietnamese Army... but that's a logistical thing on the player [me] side, this game was so awesome that I absolutely enjoyed it.

    1 · March 30, 2013

    • Gemlee

I did not post the intent to turn this weekend skirmish into a mini-milsim. However, this was not intended to be played like Operation White Jindo. So using an M-16 rather than an AK is definitely o.k in this venue.

The scenarios and weather were awesome. Seemed to have lots of zombies at the field though. They know who they are andbI hope they change or at least have the courtesy to stay home next month... A special thank you to Gemlees students for the food and the added element of game play, it was a pleasure to shoot you. A side not ti everyone who plays airsoft in general, this is a game of honor and respect. Talking trash about other players and chest puffing does nothing for our sport, keep he bravado to a minimum and lets have some fun next round.

Gentlemen.....Please have your AEG ready to go when you arrive at the field. Too much time is being wasted in refitting your weapons prior to scenarios. Have all magazines loaded and AEG ready for combat. This will help expedite the game flow. Refer to the above schedule for guidance. Thanks.

    3 · March 21, 2013

A true reflection of what the Mil in Mil-Sim stands for. Your first priority is to make your weapon ready(mags loaded and stowed, water carrier topped off, and frags replenished.) All before dropping your gear, taking a load off, and recanting that tale of the one that got away.

Question guys, my KWA SR10 shoots 380+FPS out of box. I am getting a M125 Matrix spring put in increasing the FPS to[masked]FPS, I am also adding a hopup bucking red type to it. So what I am wondering is how does the FPS thing work if it exceeds 400+ fps? Do I take a class or what?

    March 22, 2013

    • A former member
      A former member

Do the accuracy mods first, then try the gun out and see if you are meeting regs for the field as far as FPS, then if you have wiggle room put the spring in.

Thinking about getting KWA SR10 for field usage, anybody wanna talk me out of it or suggest a better gun? Looking for a gun with best performance out of box. No internal upgrades. This seems to fit that best, with the new 2GX Gearbox that KWA put into it. Going to run 11.1V Lipo battery because all KWA guns are LIPO ready.
