Very educational tour. I've been multiple times and each time you learn something new. We now have planted more edible things in our yard.

This was a very good tour, I learned some new ideas and hung out with a fun group. Loved the rocket stoves, composting toilet, the tomatoes growing on carpet only! solar well pump, the drinkable pond water....;o) inside joke for those of us there and the staff.

Sorry I cant make the farm tour, I'm sure it will be educational. I'm looking forward to meeting up with fellow preppers.
Does anyone know where I can have my ham radio equipment gone over, and checked out. Thanks, Will Ft. Myers

Are we meeting in a particular place at Echo? Anyone want to carpool? I am coming from Bonita, long drive.

Both Bill and I have changed our RSVPs this week, and I'm pretty sure that Rachel won't be attending as well (we had originally indicated attendance this Saturday simply to get the posting up). But that still leaves a "baker's dozen" of folks who DO plan on going. I believe that Al said he plans to attend both Saturdays so you may look to him for guidance or additional information. Please post back here to let us all know what you liked (or disliked) about the tour so that those of us planning to attend in two weeks will have a better idea of what to look (or look out) for. Thanks!! :-)

This is a great idea and I encourage everyone to attend. For more information visit the Educational Concerns for Hunger Organization (ECHO) website at

On this tour you will find demonstrations, plants, and techniques useful to farmers and urban gardeners in developing countries and learn all about ECHO's mission of helping the poor help themselves. Experience seven settings of the Global Farm and taste tropical leaves while you explore rain-forest habitats, stop at a simulated rural school and witness urban gardening techniques that allow gardens on rooftops. You will also see some of our Appropriate technologies like biogas (turning cow manure into gas for cooking or lighting) and water pumps along with our friendly farm animals: goats, chickens, ducks, tilapia, and rabbits. ...and if that is not enough to entice you, ECHO has one of the largest collections of tropical food plants in Florida.

Call us at 776=6767 for more information, and RSVP! :-)

This is the first meetup I have added. I thought there was a way to set a maximum number of attendees. Does anyone know how to do that?

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
