FBM&M Road Rally

Road Rallies are so much fun! Its like a scavenger hunt on wheels!

You can create your own team of four if you'd like or just show up and we will slot you into a team with other group members. A team has to be able to fit into one car together. Every team must have at least one digital camera or phone that takes pictures. So, if you have one, bring it in case your other team members do not.

At the starting place every team will get a list of items that they have to find, collecet or photograph. You have to get as many of the items within the alloted time as you can - and whichever team gets the most wins!! You will get 2 hours to run around and collect. But you cannot be late back to the rendezvous spot or you lose all your points!

Be ready to be a little silly - Road Rallies are not for folks who take themselves too seriously. IN other words - we're gonna have some good old fashioned fun!!!

We will meet back together at afterwards to determine the winner of the rally as well as have dinner together and share our experiences and laugh about the stories we have to tell. While you all are driving around hunting for things Edwaard will be grilling up some hot dogs. Please bring someting to add to the meal, appetizer, main dish, dessert, etc... I"ll provide soda, you bring any adult beverages that you want. You may enjoy them AFTER the rally. :-)

Don't miss this event! I promise it will be fun. Come with a full gas tank, your digital camera and maybe a little cash in case you need to make a small purchase or two.  ;-)

Some hints of items you will be looking for.... Anyone own a life-size cut-out of a movie star? Anyone know where to find a snake? Can you think of where you might take a picture with a person in uniform? Don't miss this event - come join in the fun!!

Come on Meetupers! Let's hit the road!!

Hectic but a lot of fun. Saw 8 1/2 people walking thier dogs on the way home. Yes 1/2. The lady carrying her fru fru dog probably wouldn't qualify as "walking her dog". Thanks for the fun time.

Here's the recipe for the corn salad: 5 ears fresh corn shucked, 3T cider vinegar, 3T good olive oil, 1t Kosher salt, 1t Fresh ground black pepper, 1/2C small diced red onion (1 small should do), 1/2C fresh basil, julienned. Put the corn in the boiling water & boil for 3 minutes or until the starchiness is removed. Remove & put in an ice bath. Once it's cool, cut the kernels off the corn. Mix with the O&V, S&P & red onion. Just before serving, put the julienned basil on top. (I have made this recipe several times now, I find it's even tastier when I make it the night before & let it sit. I also mix the O&V, S&P & red onion together while the corn is boiling & once the corn is cooled & I cut off the kernels it's easy to mix it all together.)

    • Beth

Di, the most convenient way to upload pics is if you have the Meetup app on your Smart Phone. If you don't have that you can connect a cable from phone to pc upload that way.

Road Rally in two days!! I am so excited!! I just emailed directions to the house and a few reminders. Please read carefully. Remember a potluck item to share for dinner as well as an item to donate to Goodwill. Its part of the rally!! If you have any questions, let me know, Ask here. And as always, If your plans have changed and you can no longer attend, please update your RSVP here on the site so we can get an accurate count and I know how many hotdogs to buy. Thanks!!

Oh People!! I have had so much fun coming up with fun clues for the Road Rally!! Y'all are going to be all over this area looking for things and doing thing! And documenting all of it in pictures. So bring those camera phones!! I also suggest someone in your group have a Google Maps app that you can use to help you find things. Get here promptly at 3:00 so we can quickly go over the rules and you can be released to begin the hunt. You will have a time limit but points are rewarded for the most correct items collected, not for finishing first. However, points will be taken away from coming back late!

Remember to bring at item for dinner after the hunt. E will be cooking hotdogs, bring something to go along with that (side dish, dessert, etc) I will supply soda, dogs and buns.

    • stacey

ok. i was gonna offer. but your plan works.

      1 · August 10, 2013

  • Beth

As I am creating hints and clues for the Road Rally I need to tell you that everyone needs to bring ONE ITEM that can be donated to Goodwill. :-)

    August 2, 2013

    • Beth

Also don't forget your phone or digital camera and a pen or pencil would be a good idea for marking off items from the list as found. Going to be FUN!!
