Beginner/Intermediate Lightroom Workshop

If you've been to my beginner's photography workshop, you know how I feel about Lightroom.  If you're wanting to have a photography hobby, you need to know Lightroom.  We are big fans of Lightroom.  It is the program we use 99% of the time at the studio.  There is no better way to organize, edit, and beautify your images quickly.  It has all the power you need to create professional photographs.

Adobe offers a FREE 30 day trial of Lightroom at this link:  Lightroom download.  If you like it, you can buy it from Adobe for $149 or $78 at academicsuperstore.com if you have a student or are a student.

Saturday May 31st, I will be teaching a six-hour workshop on Lightroom.  This will be my most intensive Lightroom course yet.  But, I'll be starting at the beginning so you'll need no prior experience with Lightroom to take this class.  I'm saying beginner/intermediate because we will start at the beginning but will make everyone very competent by the end.  Please load the program on to your computer beforehand.  The workshop will be 10:00-4:00ish.  We'll likely be done before that, but just in case...I'm saying six hours.  I'll provide some cookies and we'll take a short break in the middle.  During these six hours, I will teach you everything I know about Lightroom including:

• Organize your image library in a way that makes sense.

• Import and export in whatever format/size you want.

• Create presets to quickly make your images unique and remarkable.

• Easily change cropping, color balance, exposure, contrast, etc. to correct an image.

• Knowing the tricks to make your images POP and look professional.

• Fix problems with the image - change the background, remove skin blemishes, reduce pixelation, darken or lighten part of the picture.

• Create slideshow videos with a few clicks.

If you want to create beautiful photographs, knowing how to use your camera is only part of it.  You must know how to beautify your images the same way professionals do.  Have you ever wondered why your images never look like the pros even though you're photographing correctly? Believe me, Lightroom is necessary make your images amazing.  I'm including some before and after pictures that demonstrate the type of things you will be able to do with Lightroom.

We will also offer some cool presets.  The same ones we use at the studio and at FotoFlyAway.

The cost is $50.  It's worth $50.  This workshop will be very hands-on with your own computers.  I'LL HAVE POWER AVAILABLE FOR ANY COMPUTERS.  I'll get you some images before the class so we're all working from the same images.  You will learn.

I hope to see you there!

Thanks everyone for coming to today's workshop. I've decided I'm just going to email every attendee the presets we use. I'll do it tonight late. :)

In the description it says you'll get us some images before the class begins. Did you send those out? I'm just worried they might have gotten lost in my junk mail. Let me know. Thanks!

Hi Eric, where can I enroll for the lightroom workshop?
    Thank you

Hi Eric, if is a "free workshop" why the $50 bucks? Just wondering!

    May 27, 2014

    • Eric

Hey Reina, this isn't the free photography workshop but the Lightroom workshop. Keep on the lookout for the free beginner photography one - I usually do them every other month or so.

Thank you, I will look for the photography one, but also will attend the lightroom workshop as well.

Are you going to offer this class again on another day?

    May 27, 2014

    • Eric

Yeah, sometime. I've had some requests to get it on a weekday - is that what you're talking about?

Hi Eric, I am excited to become a member of your meet up group. Any chance of this type of class in the evening maybe a shorter version if you dont want to go 11 at night or maybe a couple evening classes? Just wondering because I work at Timp Harley and I have to work on Saturdays. Thank you

Hey Rick. Great idea to split it up over a couple of evenings. I'll probably do that next time so we can involve folks that can't do it on Saturday. Thanks for the suggestion!

would you say there is an advantage learning this over photoshop?

    May 20, 2014

    • Eric

Yes I would. Lightroom is for someone who takes a bunch of pictures and wants to organize them and make them all look better very quickly. Photoshop is for doing more intricate things like 'head swapping' or doing some graphic design stuff. But for the average person - Lightroom is the thing to learn.

You are killing me... I have been waiting for this class since I heard about it. Unfortunately I have portrait workshop at Wheeler Farm at 1:00pm . I will wait for the next one. Sorry.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
