David Carman is the COO/Venture Critic of the Blackline Review (http://blacklinereview), an online journalistic publication that brings visibility and transparency to the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Chicago with a special emphasis on startups. David identifies, evaluates, and rates promising startups and Rose Tibayan, a former TV reporter and anchorwoman, tapes key events, interviews influential players, and covers important news and stories.

In addition, David is the President/CEO of the BNC Venture Capital Group (, and its umbrella organization, Business Network Chicago ( The BNC Venture Capital Group introduces early-stage companies to angel investors, venture capitalists, and private equity firms. Each month 3 startups pitch to an audience of entrepreneurs, senior-level executives, service providers, and investors.  Prior to launching the BNC Venture Capital Group in October 2006, David was involved in the financial markets for 20 years as a member and trader on the floor of the Chicago Board Options Exchange. David received his B.A. from Washington University, St. Louis in 1975.
