    Hi all-

The following message just arrived from Meetup HQ in NYC. I wanted to share it with all of you:

To the family and friends of Alan:

It was with sadness that I received news that Alan had passed away. It is clear
from his heavy Meetup involvement that Alan was a huge and vital part of your community.

People like Alan are exactly who we were thinking of when we founded Meetup, why we come to
work each day, and why Meetup continues to grow. His loss is surely a blow to your community,
but he will live on in the real connections and friendships that he helped to create.

On behalf of all of us here in New York, I extend my sincerest condolences.

    Andrew Williams
    Community Team Lead
    Meetup, Inc.

It was amazing to see so many people, riders and passengers, out to celebrate and memorialize Alan at this event. As for me, personally, I only met and rode with Alan once, which was both happy and sad. Happy because I DID get to meet him, and sad because I didn't get to ride with him more. At that one time, I walked over to Alan to introduce myself, he put out his hand, looked at me and said "Hi, Tex." welcoming me into his sphere of influence as though I were an old friend, even though we had never met before, thus instantly becoming a friend. I know I share this kind of experience with pretty much everyone who knew him, he was just that kind of guy, wonderful from the very start. I even thought to myself that day "I'd really like to get to know Alan better, he seems like such a great guy."
I believe I'm not the only one to share this sentiment, judging from the vast and powerful emotions at this event.
I rode with him one day, but I will fondly remember him for all my years.

I pray you'll be our eyes, and watch us where we go.
I pray we'll find your light, and hold it in our hearts.
Help us find a place, guide us with your grace.
Give us faith, so we'll be safe.

Alan’s memorial ride was an amazing event. Everyone came together to honor Alan’s life, love, and joyful existence. I thank everyone who helped to make this event a lifelong memory. Alice’s restaurant was a tranquil and soothing location and yet had the motorcycle element. I loved the relaxed pace of the ride, and having all of my friends present. What stands out in my mind was how the crowd cheered when I introduced Alan’s family – what a heartfelt welcome into the club!

This is to you Alan...You where the only guy I gave smack to because you gave it right back. But we always looked out for each other and you never hesitated to give a helping hand, quick joke or snap a sharp pic! In life you were a brother of the wheel...but now you have taken flight. We created a special bond! I hope heaven has motorcycles cause I know if they don't...you'll be heading for warmer climates! I know you've ridden these Santa Cruz mountains for years. I suspect from time to time, we will be seeing fleeting glimpses of you out of the corner of our eyes! Just riding along... I'll know it's you by those red BOOTS! A man like you can never really be gone, some piece remains. I take comfort in that. Peace be with you, my friend.

It was great to see such a large turnout to honor Alan. Thank you to Milo and Shelley and the rest of the support crew for all you did. It was a pleasure to be synced up with David, Heidi and Mike during the ride. It was reminisant of rides where Alan and I would chat. It was also great to see David riding Alan's bike and the rest of his family supporting the ride. Very emotional day for everyone that attended and a huge hug to all you. Ride safe!

What a wonderful day spent remembering the man that touched so many of our lives and hearts. We were blessed to have had him in our lives, and for giving us all of the wonderful memories that were created in our time with him. He was taken from us far too soon, and will forever be in my heart.

Thank you Tony B for allowing me the privilege of riding with you to this wonderful event. It was soo good to see so many people who I've come to know and love over the years! R I P dear Alan.

Even if I didn't get around to all, it was good to see all, and to connect with those I did. The slideshow was fantastic! It was great to see Alan, " the Wednesday man", in his element, ...people, pictures, biking, and his wonderful humor, all which we loved and miss so much already.

Great time today. What better way to remember Alan than to do his favorite short ride to Alice's. I'm sure he's smiling down on us all that gathered in his honor and knows that he was loved as much if not more than ALL the love that he had emitted toward us. It will be our job to carry that love on and show it to each of our fellow riders in the future as it was shown to us. Ride in Peace Alan. Until we meet again, May the angels of my brothers and sisters who have gone before me guard my travels, for they know the perils of the road ahead of me.

I have a right to my own life. If I don't live my life fully, it will simply not be lived, because no one else can live it for me. I cannot bequeath it to anyone else to live on my behalf. If I don't sing my song it will remain unsung, because no one can sing it for me. If I don't dance my dance, however clumsy, it will remain still, frozen in place, because no one can dance it for me. If I don't find the poetry in my day, in my own soul, it will not be found, because it is mine to search out and speak out. Life is a spiritual gift and my life is my personal gift from God, from the Universe, from someplace much bigger than me. If I don't live it, no one else will, no one else can.

Don't die with your music still in you. -Wayne Dyer

Very moving and emotional but also perfect for Alan, the ride, the setting, the day...Alice's will never be the same... I will raise my glass and toast Alan tonight and when we all go dancing somewhere and when we see the photographs of our days out riding... there is Alan. Thank you for the memories, rich and lasting....a very well organized and orchestrated pack ride.

It was good to see you all today.
Everyone at Alice's seemed to have a fond memory of Alan, and to many he was family.

    "Who is Alan Yelensky?"
Well, for starters, Alan is the man whose post in the 4Cs forum (written by Milo) got nearly 1,500 views in just 10 days.
This easily shows how much love and appreciation we all had for Alan.
    He will be missed.
