Sunday Afternoon Stroll through James "Pate" Philip State Park

This Spring should provide a nice walk at James "Pate" Philip State Park on Stearns Road (just east of Route 25).  We will meet in the main parking lot by the visit center building off of Stearns Road.

The trails are made of limestone and the native wildlife and foliage is very beautiful.

The north branch of Brewester Creek flows through the property, but most of the streambed had been channeled to move water away from former agricultural fields. Along the north boundary of the state park includes a row of houses rises up like a wall against a sea of grasses in the east. Further west along the boundary is an active gravel pit and by the Bartlett Park District sport field.

I think I am going take advantage of a break in the clouds here in my neighborhood (revealed by radar) and get the dogs out for another quick walk. I am tempted to do the drive, it could likely break up into patchy rain but I really need to get them out and dont want to miss the opportunity.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
