Framingham Drum Circle Meetup

Join us for a high energy, fun evening to celebrate drumming, community, dance. Fine for beginners as well as experts. We're in a great space with lots of room for dancers - so come and try both drumming and dance if you wish. Bring friends, extra drums to share, maybe some snacks. MINI-CLASS at 6:30 sharp. A good introduction for beginners, and a tune-up for experts.

Come Drum!!  .. .

We have drums to share, lots of fantastic percussion toys, and can help you find the Perfect Drum.

One of our friends, Fanta, a dancer and great drummer.

Our member Joel, who you see playing dununs, has been studying the balaphone for years . . . We're encouraging him to bring his balaphone this time!

So sad to have missed last night. I'll do a better job with my RSVP next time so you won't have to lug a drum for me, John. Thanks for all that you do to create a beautiful and unique experience on a shoestring.

A friendly, musical circle! It was delightful to experiment with the many instruments available. Wish we could have stayed longer; will budget more time next time.

I can't say enough about this experience. It's literally mindblowing. I think it's something everyone should try at least once in a lifetime. Don't be afraid if you've never touched a drum before in your life. You will be welcomed and taught and you'll love it!

John, when my husband and I first came last month, we didn't have cash on us for the $8 pp and had to just give what we had (so tonight I made up the difference). I didn't know it cost anything because I didn't see anything about cost on the meetup page. I don't care either way. it's perfectly legitimate to charge people and $8 or $10 is absolutely MORE than reasonable. But there must be a way to make it more clear on the page that there is a cost, no?

My daughter is sick so I can't come after all. I am so sad! It was so much fun last month. I'll be looking forward to December.

Whoa! There's a $10 per person (over 12) admission price for a drum circle? There wasn't anything about that in the blurb or any of the welcoming e-mails I received. What gives?

Hey Jamie - I have a sense you are in the it's just a free group of happy drummers so why charge anything. When you need to rent a large dance studio, and drive two round trips to Arlington to get drums for those who do not have them, and when you actually buy a bunch of drums for the circle... this is not a "profit" situation. What the $$ does is SUPPORT COMMUNITY - and empower people who would never have the experience otherwise. In time... some do get drums. It is a matter of values... to facilitate this experience.

Hi John: You're right! My experience of drum circles to date has been exclusively in free groups of happy drummers at bonfires and powwows. Somehow I missed that this one was indoors (the homepage photo is outdoors), and that you truck drums from Arlington. Anyway, all available accounts indicate that attendees of this circle are delighted with it, so you're stuck with us tonight! We'll stop at the bank on the way. Will bring a pair of claves too. Looking forward to it; see you there!

You have to pay to use the privy?
Anyway I volunteer for dununs all session, if that helps.
Will bring some cowbells, sans cows.

Admission is now $10 per person, children under 12 free
But since I have not yet fixed the meetup site to show the new price
Prominantly this month, ok to still pay the old price of $8

Yes, each person pays. This supports expenses, and pays for all those extra drums i need to bring. If people eventually got drums, expenses would reduce as would the prive.

Ok, I do not have any extra drums but will be bringing a goodie.. See you tomorrow.
