Raspberry Pi Night - July Meeting - No Agenda

For July 2014

Suggested donation $5.00 at the door to support our Makerspace :-)

I won't have time to setup the Arduino class as we had expected for the missed June meeting.

As such, please let me know what you are interested in, working on, and I will bring parts to help you complete it.

As usual, feel free to reach out to me for separate training classes. I know there are a few beginners that want to buy or setup their Raspi.

If you have a Raspberry Pi and want to get together with others to compare notes, swap ideas, etc. come to our meetup. Bring your Pi and show us what you're doing with it.

If you're curious about the Raspberry Pi and want to meet others who have one or are just interested in finding out more about them, come to our meetup.

In addition to sharing and helping each other Saman will test some of his Raspberry Pi class curriculum on us, so it's a great opportunity if you are new to the Raspberry Pi and want to learn more.

Location will be Framingham, MA. Address provided when you RSVP.

For those unfamiliar with the Raspberry Pi, here is a link

Check out the segment on our Raspberry Pi night that aired on Framingham Public Access Channel. The segment starts 10:34 into the video.

    Hi, I'm Chuck.
The project I'm bringing today is an implementation of an Internet-of-things using the Rasperry Pi as the server and an arduino as a client.

    More details:
    Ethernet connectivity between all nodes
    MQTT message transport protocol
    - mosquitto server on the Rpi
    - pubsub client on the arduino
    Apache server on the Rpi
    - Javascript web interface
    - interface to support real-time-updates between web client and Rpi server
    - Node.js server side javascript to forward messages between and MQTT server

Bottom line is, anything you can control with an arduino, you can now network onto your own personal internet-of-things network. Light switches, thermostats, door locks, etc.

Some of my other projects include:
    An RFID door lock:

And a PID controlled sous-vide cooker:

Sadly, work is getting in the way of my attendance. But I'll introduce myself anyway and maybe I'll see you next month?

Hi, I'm Jon and new to Raspberry Pi and this group. I'm looking to jump into the community with my new project.

I want to build a dash cam for my vehicle. I put on 20+k miles per year and I thought this would be a fun project that could go in many directions. For the first revision, I want to fill the media card in a loop recording fashion -- should be pretty easy and I'm halfway there.

Moving forward, I want to explore adding a battery for powered shutdown/file write, add a fisheye lens, and maybe external sensors if things go well (g-force, gps, speed, etc..). It could go in many directions.

Please let me know if you need help with any projects you are working on, so I can prepare before the meetup. I will bring the new Raspi B+'s (no cases) and a bunch of related Arduino stuff. I recently worked on Wii Remotes and Kinect, so I will have these also. My current project involves Arudinos and a better compile and source code setup.

I am now in possession of some new Model B+s :) no cases, but just the units themselves. I also have a few micro SD cards. Booted up no problem. I also tested the lapdock without any problems. Check them out.

Anyone find an 3D case file for them, feel free to print me a few cases :)
