Philip "Philippe" Olmes
Cary; Dear Prospective French Students: Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Philip "Philippe" Olmes and I would like to offer you a unique and totally personalized approach to learning French. I will, with your input, custom tailor a tutoring session that I am certain will motivate you while learning and having fun.
My teaching experience has shown that this personalized approach produces very positive results in a relatively short time frame.
I have been fluent in French for over 25 years and have a native accent. I have lived and studied in France 6 times, including 1 year at the Sorbonne in Paris. Additionally, I have taught for Berlitz, Inlingua School of Languages, French Bilingual Program for Cincinnati Public Schools and taught English as an "Assistant" for University French Students in France. Currently, I am the Lead French Tutor for Upper School Students at Cary Academy.
My current full time position as an International Flight Attendant has allowed me to fly to and spend countless layovers in Paris and Brussels. I have traveled extensively throughout France and can recommend many places worth visiting. In other words, I am an ardent Francophile and wish to offer my experience to others.
I'd be delighted to answer any questions you might have about studying with me. I am available for all levels of study, from complete beginner to advanced students. I also have a crash course for people who'd like to just enhance their trip to France by learning some basic survival skills and other useful information. I have many references available upon request.
My fee is $40 for the first full hour and $15 per half hour thereafter. There is a flat $10 fee for travel outside of Cary or no fee if you come to me.
I can be reached at (919)467-9507
or my email at: polmes@nc.rr.com
Merci et Bon Courage!
Woodie Ingram Ischer
NWest Raleigh; I taught French for thirty years, to children 6-8 and High school 9-12, ( AP Grammaire et litterature) Tous de mes etudiants ont reçu 4 ou 5 sur les examens AP.
I attended an international boarding school in Paris, Mary Mount. It is no longer a boarding school. Only 3 English speaking students. Everyone spoke French all the time and course were always in French. As to be expected a good number of the students were French. My roomate was Greek. Luckily I was privately tutored before entering the school.
I received my bachelors and master at the U of Illinois.
I have tutored middle school students, high school students and adults. I used to do simultaneous translation - not up to that now. I also read and translated documents for adults.
I love the language, culture and the people and most of all I love teaching!!!
