Field Trip to Blackwater State Forest

Larry Goodman and Peggy Baker will lead us as we look for birds in this treasured local forest. Larry and Peggy, both part of an Audubon team who have spent several years doing a bird survey in the Blackwater River State Forest, have intimate knowledge and a deep appreciation of this amazing place. This is sure to be a great day!

We expect to see the secretive Bachman's Sparrow, late spring migrants and breeding birds. Some spring wildflowers also will be in bloom.

Bring a picnic lunch, snacks and drinks for the day and prepare to be outdoors. You should expect moderate, non-strenuous walking. We will return by mid-afternoon.

All of our events are free, but we will happily accept a donation to our education fund.

I just loved that red headed woodpecker! BEAUTIFUL! Can't wait for more birdwatching, you're all so nice and knowledgeable. :)

Good first birding trip after not having gone in a while with a friendly, enthusiastic group.

We are watching the weather and right now the plan is to go on with the field trip even if it is threatening to rain, or even raining a little bit. I will update if this changes!
