Charter: Promote self care among bodywork providers and provide a regular event where professionals and laypersons may learn and share therapeutic or relaxing massage and bodywork.

Promote the sharing of the varied modalities of bodywork protocols among groups and individuals in the Frederick MD area.

We will strive to share with and learn from each other.

We will share new modalities of massage, types of healing, marketing options and ideas, and work towards creating a reliable referral network.

The FBX will hold formal group meet-ups once a month in the home of one of the members.

Maybe you're on the fence about attending a massage school or maybe you miss the daily massages from massage school and want to know where your next massage is coming from.

Proposed meetup schedules will be as follows:

1. Arrival [5-6pm.]

2. Social time & Informal potluck (Members bring main dish, vegetables, Fruit, or dessert) [6-7pm.]

3. Training and sharing in one or more modalities [7-10pm.]

4. THOSE WHO HAVE A PORTABLE TABLE PLEASE BE PREPARED TO BRING IT TO THESE MEETINGS

We hope to be able to showcase two or more modalities at each meeting. During the Training & Sharing time, we will break into groups at each massage table and exchange massage, bodywork or energy work within the small group. Depending on who wants to share or present we may watch a technique video and then work on incorporating that technique into or bodywork sessions.

We will endeavor to have either a Certified Professional or Experienced non-professional in charge of each small group to assist with training and assure the safety and decorum of each therapy session.

Although we will be meeting in private homes we will protect the modesty of those we are working on as though we were in a Spa or massage classroom setting concerning draping.

The utmost care will be taken to provide a safe and comfortable atmosphere for all participants. Standard precautions will be followed concerning sanitation and bodily contact.

The person receiving massage must be asked if there are any areas that need therapy and how firm or light pressure is desired.

Persons wishing to join this group and participate in the monthly meetings must read and agree with the group "Code of Conduct" in the left of the page.

FBX members Meetup Profiles SHALL contain: First and Last Name, and the locality in which you live (so that between regular meetings members may find someone close by with whom to share);

Your bodywork or Energy experience and whether you are certified or licensed in any modality;

It should also contain information if you are willing to assist in teaching your specialty(s) to others;

You should also indicate any areas in which you wish to lean; Agree with the Code of Conduct.

If you would like to "learn from a pro" or Experienced non-professional, you are encouraged to contact that person and ask for assistance directly. You are also encouraged to find a partner who would also like to be trained.

For most modalities, it is especially important to have at least 3 people in the training session - the teacher, the student, and a "client".

Usually the student and ‘client’ will trade-off during the session so that each will be able to learn and practice under the guidance of the teacher.

After the training sessions, the student/body team can then practice what was learned on each other.
