Thanksgiving Potluck @ Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary

Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary is a 400 acre non-profit refuge for farm animals and wildlife located in Poolesville, Maryland. Each year, Poplar Spring hosts a vegan Thanksgiving potluck, where hundreds of people from the region come and enjoy a large potluck on the farm, amidst the turkeys and other rescued animals. It's a great time, in a beautiful setting.

Poplar Spring asks that attendees bring a vegan dish for the potluck + a $10 donation to the sanctuary.

The event starts at noon and is 45 minutes from downtown Frederick. For those who want to carpool, we'll meet the parking lot of the Costco off of South Market Street (the address is 10 Monocacy Boulevard) by 11:00am at the latest. Meet in the section of the parking lot that is closest to the Costco gas station. We can divide up drivers and passengers there.

See you soon!

We had a really great time! Wonderful conversation, beautiful surroundings, more food than I ever imagined possible, and just so much more than we expected. Will definitely be attending next year!

I am going to stop over at the KPC temple as well if any one wants to join me ,it is less than 5 miles from there. their Chrystal collection and peace park are stunning. If the weather holds out, the rescue birds may be outside as well. http://www.tara.org/visit-us/maryland-temple/

I drive a green Honda Element with a few bumper stickers on it, so I'm easy to spot.

Hi - Still unsure of my attendance. Will there be a specific section where you guys will be located?

I go to this almost every year. The first time I went it was about 40-60 people in the cow barn. Now its probably a couple thousand people and great food. Wonderful way to enjoy Thanksgiving for the turkeys. They, along with the chickens, eat first.

A beautiful idea. Is potluck in or outdoors?

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
