We've been to this improv night a couple of times, and it's always a good laff. It's hosted in a pub called The Torrianos, which is legendary on the London open mic circuit.
If you are able to come down on the night, do be up for shouting out random things to guide the impro performers. It's a night where audience participation is actively encouraged. The more nonsense you shout out, the funnier it gets.
Here's what the promoter has written:
OFF THE CUFF LINKS 'OFF THE CUFF LINKS...essentially 10 stand ups in rotation using sentences collected by audience do improvised routines sentences are 'fav song lyric/fav film quote/advice your mum gave you'pick a sentence do a routine, long or short, than tag another performer to take over or pick a new sentence'
Improvised stand up challenge Come with nothing, no planned routines, just do it. Random sentences from the audience decide your start off point and one more decides your punchline . The penguin will judge if you deserve the title of THE IMPERIAL VARIETY PACK OF PENGUINS.
The fun starts at 8.30. I'll be there by around 8.00. Look out for the fella who looks a bit like Harry Hill (without the collars).
The performance area is pretty small, so do register early.
If you need to give me a ring, my number is:[masked] 480. Also, look out for a gentleman who is very smartly dressed. He'll be the chap who is running the funnies for the night.
Looking forward to seeing you on the 21st Feb in Kentish Town!
