About the Workshop
You work or volunteer for a nonprofit organization because you believe in its mission. The number of nonprofits is growing because people realize that now is the time for action---action that saves lives and improves the quality of life for so many, resolving problems that governments seem inadequate to address. Achieving that mission requires effective governance by Boards of Directors and results-oriented management by Executive Directors and staffs. They all depend on absolute accuracy and accountability in accounting to deliver programs, secure funding, fulfill board members? fiduciary responsibilities, achieve organization goals, conform to IRS and other government regulations, and pass routine audits.
This workshop will address many of the unique accounting needs of nonprofits. We will demonstrate how QuickBooksTM can track and report grant/fund usage and manage program planning and delivery. We?ll illustrate organization-wide and program budgeting. QuickBooksTM is comprehensive, user-friendly accounting software with customizable reports in nonprofit terminology. While there are a number of sophisticated (and expensive) accounting software packages specifically designed for nonprofits, small to medium-sized nonprofits can accomplish the same objectives for a few hundred dollars using QuickBooks.
In this 3-hour workshop, ProAdvisor, Linda Logan, will stress the importance of thoughtful design and set up of QuickBooksTM in maximizing your productivity and the quality of financial reporting, and consultant, Michael Cavitt, will discuss the complimentary roles of governance and management for results.
