Let's meet to play ukulele, sing, and have fun with holiday songs.

We meet every Thursday, unless it falls on a holiday or our hosting venue is having a special event. Our hosting venue is the Eastgate Cafe in the Oak Park Arts District, who generously provides their dining room to us without a fee.. We sing songs found in that week's song-packet. Food and beverages are available for purchase from our hosting venue.

The song-sheet packet for this meetup is 'Tis the Season... And Mark uploaded a song-sheet for Christmas Island. If you are a member, you can download the current song-sheet packet by bringing up the Song-sheet Packet for the Next Meetup page.  Click on the page name to go there now.

Playing uke and singing Christmas songs was the best! Put me right back into a fourth grade holiday pageant! Thanks for the fun!

Jingle bells, reindeer antlers, Flashing(lights), and great harmony. I don't think there is a better way to celebrate Christmas. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

Thanks to everyone for making our Holiday Meetup so memorable! What a fun/crazy/inspiring bunch of folks! Terry is right - we sounded pretty amazing on many of the songs. Thanks to all who brought songs to share: Bryan's "Here We Come a Wassailing" parody was hilarious, the singing on Terry's "Go Tell it on the Mountain" was wonderful, Donna taught us "The Gloucestershire Wassail", Mark brought a nice arrangement of "Christmas Island", and Lisa listened to "Hardrock, Coco and Joe" a dozen times so that she could write it up for us Chicagoans who remember it from when we were kids! Steve took the part of Joe, the little elf with the very deep voice. Perfect! Brenda's parody "Jingle Bell Cluck" was awesome! Our new winter theme song? Happy Christmas, Solstice, Winter to all!

I came by the Eastgate Café after the meetup a little earlier than usual, and there were about 15 people still socializing and enjoying the afterglow of a very enjoyable evening.

Thank you to all the participants; you're enthusiasm gives us organizers encouragement, your feedback helps us to find ways to improve future meetups, and by extending the courtesy of ordering something from our venue, you're helping us to keep our happy home.

If you haven't done so already, please take a few minutes to share your comments here or on the Group Reviews page (http://bit.ly/1j9CUO6).

It has been a long and tiresome week. Last night was filled with wonderful and uplifting music, grins from ear to ear, and lots of love and laughter. Exactly what I needed. I'm humbled to be a part of such a great group of people. Many thanks!

Chris and I get to hear the group in a unique way, with everyone turned toward us. Last night the group sounded especially great. The vocals on some of those songs like Silver Bells were just fantastic. I really liked that so many people brought in songs. I can't believe I never heard Gloucestershire Wassail before. Love being among so many song collectors. Have a wonderful Christmas, everyone!

Hey, strummers, what are your favorite Christmas or Holiday recordings?
    I have three favorites:
    1. On This Day Earth Shall Ring (by some Chicago folkies in the '80s)

    2. We Three Kings (The Roaches)

    3. Traditional Christmas Carols (Pete Seeger)

I like to listen to Brian Setzer's Christmas album. Christmas songs with a 50s rockabilly accent.
