Let's meet to play ukulele, sing, and have fun.

We meet every Thursday, unless it falls on a holiday or our hosting venue is having a special event. Our hosting venue is the Eastgate Cafe in the Oak Park Arts District, who generously provides their dining room to us without a fee.. We sing songs found in that week's song-packet. Food and beverages are available for purchase from our hosting venue.

The song-sheets and packets for this meetup are Tiptoe Through the..., Terry's Record Party!, and Bring Me Sunshine/Morning Has Broken. If you are a member, you can download them by bringing up the Song-sheet Packet for the Next Meetup page.  Click on the page name to go there now.

Small subgroup of participants were still hanging out and socializing when I arrived; I did a little socializing myself. The buzz was how many participants there were, although there was some difference of opinion about what the total count was. I heard later that the meetup was crazy as well.

Thank you to all the participants; your enthusiasm gives us organizers encouragement, your feedback helps us to find ways to improve future meetups, and by extending the courtesy of ordering something from our venue, you're helping us to keep our happy home.

If you haven't done so already, please take a few minutes to share your comments here or on the Group Reviews page (...;).

If you're a member, feel free to read the current financial report: Thank you to all who could afford to make a donation.

A high energy evening of music and fun. Maybe it's the alignment of the planets, or the fact that it did not snow this week (like it did last Thursday), that seemed to have everyone in a party mood. Thanks to Steve and BJ and Ed for getting things off to a great start. Thanks to MaryAnn for bringing "You Never Even Call Me By My Name" and to Mark for "Spanish Pipe Dream" and to Steve for "When You Wore a Tulip". Thanks to Steve for helping me out with "Bring Me Sunshine". Thanks to all who helped lead songs, and it’s always a treat to feature Marsha on the harmonica. It is such a blast to make music with everyone!

It was so much fun. I'm a beginner so I wasn't sure if I could keep up but I did by just playing the chords that I knew. There were over 30 of us there so the sound was fantastic. Can you imagine - 30 Ukuleles playing at the same time. It was a neat experience! The two sheet music packets that were handed out were loaded with great songs. I'm going to really enjoy my practicing this week with the new songs. Can't wait til next Thursday!

I posted a copy of John Prine's "Spanish Pipe Dream" to the MeetUp page. If there's time, we can do it this Thursday. To download it, click on "More" and then "Files." Mark

Hi! I was wondering if I could bring my tiny human along to the event. Neither one of us plays but we really want to learn and we've got our pink ukulele ready to start!
