The purpose of this group is to give you a scheduled time for exploring and expressing yourself through art. The art we will be doing could involve anything from collage to sculpting to painting and even journaling--and lots of things in between! Everyone from the self-declared "stick figure drawers" to experts are welcome. We are not concerned with creating masterpieces, just self-expression! It allows you to connect with yourself and others through the sharing of your creations and thoughts. Sharing is completely voluntary, so for the more introverted among us, don't worry--just listening is fine!

Currently, the sessions that are offered every week are:

  • All About Me:  Explore and get to know the wondrous work of art that is YOU.
  • Visualize Your Dreams:  Be an active co-creator of your future through vision and dream boards.
  • Dealing with Depression through Art:  Learn to understand, manage and even control your depression.
  • Understanding Compulsive Overeating through Art:  Learn to understand, manage and control compulsive overeating.
  • Journey through Dreams:  Explore your day dreams or night-time dreams and the messages they have for you.

Most of the sessions are held twice a week in order to fit into busy schedules.  Each week, the sessions will cover a new topic.  For example, if this week the topic for the "Visualize Your Dreams" session is Health, both sessions that week will be about health.  The following week, the topic might be Relationships, so both sessions that week will be about Relationships.  However, if you're so inspired, you can feel free to come to both sessions because each of them might include a new bunch of faces which means you'll get new ideas, new perspectives and new friends.

Attendance is limited to 10 because I find that this number gives everyone enough room to be creative and to share the things they want to at the end.  Sessions usually run about 2 hours, just enough time to get messy, not too much time to make your family wonder where you are...

The cost of each session is $15.  For this fee, you will receive:

  • All of the necessary materials needed to take part in the projects we are doing that day.  Some of these materials will go home with you at the end of the session.  Some of the materials will be shared by the other members.   By sharing certain supplies, you save the cost of having to go out and buy your own and then having a whole bunch of stuff you may never use again!

I have run the sessions in the past for free with everyone bringing their own supplies, but it didn't work out that well because inevitably, some supplies were forgotten, or shared, but not returned, or just plain went missing. That's why I have decided to begin charging a small fee. In this way, everything you need will be waiting for you at the Meetup!

  • On your first Meetup, you will receive a binder in which you can hold all of your creations, journaling pages and anything else you'd like.  These binders make an excellent visual record of where you've been and where you are going.
  • Journaling pages for your daily thoughts and insights.
  • Light Snacks and Beverages that will be provided at every Meetup.  (If you have any food allergies, please let me know when you RSVP for the session so that I can accommodate your needs).
  • New perspectives and insights
  • Smiles, ink on your hands, glitter in your hair...
  • New Friends

I look forward to seeing you at our future Meetups!

"Hi, my name is Clarisse. I love to paint. Some of my paintings are realism and others come from somewhere inside me, flow through my hands and end up on the canvas. This group sounds so very much like a place that I want and need to be!"

"Hi, I'm what you might call a closet artist! Shh, don't tell anyone I can draw a bit! Currently, I'm exploring inks and watercolors then enhancing projects through digitizing. I really like to doodle, it gives my mind a place to "let go""

"Lost my art mojo, hoping to find it soon. I have a B.A. in Art...but that was decades ago. Successful exhibitor in outdoor art festivals during the 1980s, but again, that was a while back."
