We get a lot of people who come in to the shop who express their fear and/or inexperience with NYC street riding. We have designed a class that will go a long way to making riding in the street safe, enjoyable and efficient. This class is a combination of off-the-bike theory and hands-on riding. Using you own bike is preferred,or we can lend you one for a few bucks for class. Helmets are required (and will be available at a deep discount for class participants). The class covers the following:
- Pre-ride checklist
- What are "the rules"?
- How to ride in traffic (day, night, rain, ice/snow)
- How to make decent decisions
The class is taught by Joe, who was a bike messenger in the 80's in Manhattan, and is a regular commuter today. Read his blog post here about his last day as a messinger, and his other post on red lights.
