Summit Mount Marcy - the highest point in New York State with an elevation of 5,343 feet (1,629 m). It is one of the most scenic hikes in Adirondacks.
Enjoy stunning panoramic views from the top: a remarkable view of Mt. Haystack, the third highest peak, rising out of a valley known as Panther Gorge; the Mac Intyre Range; the ridges north to Canada and the Green Mountains of Vermont
Physical level: Strenuous - Intermediate/Advanced Hikers only (no beginners)
Distance: 15 miles
Average Hiking time: 8 -12 hours
Elevation: 3600 feet of elevation along an often steep and rocky terrain.
There is no charge for the hike.
Day 1: We will leave Manhattan at 4p.m. on Sat. The drive should take 4-6 hours depending on the traffic. We will stay overnight in a hotel 30-40 min from the beginning of the trail.
Day 2: We will start the hike at 6:30 a.m. After the hike we will have a dinner in a local place and drive back to Manhattan. The arrival time really depends on when we finish the hike. Probably not earlier then 11p.m.
Carpool or minivan. If you need a ride - please let us know so we can rent a car.
