  • Whataburger

6888 Gulf Freeway, Houston, TX (map)

    29.702122 -95.297989

  • Our sixth annual ride benefiting The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center will take place on October 12th, 2013, leaving from Stubbs Harley Davidson and traveling to West of the Brazos at 10:30am.

I would like to meet as a group to ride into Stubb's together. I will also be inviting members of Chapter 50 to join us for this ride if they are interested.
KSU from Stubb's Harley Davidson is at 10:30AM.
$30.00 pre-registration or $35.00 registration at the door. Each registration includes lunch.
    To pre-register, visit www.ridersforthecure.org

Sam’s Jam is the signature event produced by RFTC. Sam’s Jam celebrates the life and work of our co-founding member Dr. Samuel Hassenbusch, M.D., Ph.D. “Dr. Sam,” as he was known, was a world-renowned neurosurgeon and researcher who lost his battle with glioblastoma multiforme in 2008. Sam’s Jam honors his spirit, his vitality and most of all, his commitment to patient care and research.

    Our History
Riders for the Cure was founded in 2006 by Dr. Samuel Hassenbusch, M.D., Ph.D., and Patrick Browning, J.D., M.H.A., both employees and avid motorcycle riders. The original purpose of Riders for the Cure was to serve as a voice for employee motorcycle riders but it was quickly realized that based on the club membership more substantial goals could be advanced and achieved. Today Riders for the Cure boasts over 150 current employees representing physician, administrative, clinical, operational, and support constituencies. The club is also open to retirees, former employees, and non-employee cancer survivors.

    Dana,
I am emailing this to you as well, but just wanted to cover my bases to make sure you got this message. I am officially canceling this meetup due to lack of participation so that we can attend the funeral service tomorrow instead. Everyone else but you and i have canceled for this ride.

Dan & Wendee, i totally understand. Unfortunately work and family do come first. With that being said, since half othe group that was going on this ride tomorrow has had to cancel, i just want ot make sure the other two members that RSVP'd are going to still attend, because if you are not going to , please let me know so i can cancel this ride and attend the funeral service for Le owith the rest of the club.
    Thanks.

Dan just let me know he has been called in to work tomorrow so now we will not be coming. So sorry for the last minute cancellation - we would sure rather be riding (rain or shine) than working

Just lookedat the Weather for Saturday, it is a 40% chance of rain, so please make sur to bring your rain gear. You know what they say, " if you bring it , thne you wont need it; but if you don't bring it, then you will definitely need it."

After Mossy's advice, I decided to backout from this event to participate in Leo's Funeral. Hope you guys enjoy this event.

Cajun, i totally get it . That is why i am giving everyone the option. I have spoken to Nubs, he is probably going to be leading the group to the funeral and i will lead the members that still want to take part in this event.

OK that's cool, I haven't been on a group ride, seems like forever. Just wanted my cake and eat it to.

Guys, this may be a bit premature. These events are not til the following weekend. I Dont really want to stay the whole day at the funeral. My intentions are only to pass by the funeral to show our respect, or even better if I can get service where

    October 2, 2013

    • Jose Samano Jr (Double D.

I hope to get the details and make my decision by end of Monday, that way the numbers for each event is more accurately getting closer to that weekend.

      October 2, 2013

    • Jose Samano Jr (Double D.

I do hope to make both events, hoping that there is a decent cushion between the end of this ride and the time of the actual service. I will share with all, if Debbi does not get a chance to get on to Meet-Up.

Probably most of you have pre-registered by now for this ride, but i wanted to elt all of you know that some of the embers that planned on attending this ride will be non attending so that they can take part in funeral services for one of our members that lost his short battle with cancer earlier this week. His funerla service will be the same day as this ride at 11am. I share this with all of you since we are jsut a few presently going on this ride and wanted to let everyone know what is going on. I can not get your money refunded from your pre-registration, but if you choose to take part in these funeral services instead of this ride, please update your RSVp so we will know a truer number of members attending this event. With that being said if it becomes a unanimous decision to join th funeral services and not ride this event, i have no problems with cancelling this event so that we can all take part in the funeral services.

  • Jose Samano Jr (Double D.

I already Pre-Registered, however I am trying to see if I should still attend this event and pass by Leo Norman's Funeral or just pass on this event (and donate my registration fee) to go to the funeral.

Dan and I are registered and looking forward to seeing folks!! We've been off the grid for a while - took a ride up north of Denver early August and then pretty much been buried alive at work since...
