New Model agency in Palm Beach for a shoot

  • July 10, 2014 · 5:00 PM
  • Worth Avenue Models

The address is at the corner of Worth Avenue and County Road.  We will meet at the agency and then go on the street (Worth Avenue) in Palm Beach to take photos of models.

You may bring models or shoot some of the Agency models or both.

It is possible that there will be a calendar made up from photos taken this day.  Details will be given at the meeting.

The owner of the new agency, Worth Avenue Models, is Camilo Garcia and his email address is [masked]

P.S. Max was impressed with youse guys and gals at the shoot at his studio.

Camilo tried to call me, but I was in the hospital so I will try to call him tomorrow or the next day.

David take care of you so you can have more good days!

    July 30, 2014

  • David A.

Sorry. I have not yet contacted Camilo. I have had a couple of bad days and go in for surgery tomorrow. We will get this all straightened out, but maybe not as fast as we want. Hey! Beautiful weather out there. Make some photo meetups.

Camilo (the C in [masked]) is out of town and will not be back until Monday. Yes, he is new to this as some of you have surmised, and yes, it will be valuable to all of us (and Camilo) to have a meeting for open discussion. I will try to contact him Monday or Tuesday. OK?

my model was very good, she loved my pictures and she will recommend me, if someone need it

    July 26, 2014

  • Alan L.

Did any of the models actually worked with the agency or were they just test shoots? Did anybody actually send high resolution photos?

    July 26, 2014

  • Alan L.

I try to learn something with every shoot, do you guys use any Photoshop plugins for skin softening or retouching? Do you have any follow up conversation with a model or a client?

    July 26, 2014

  • Larry Q.

Not a good way to start a modeling agency. I know about 25 models that I wont recommend to them.

    July 26, 2014

  • Larry Q.

As the photograher that took the photos you have all rights to the photos to use for your personal use. You would only need a model release if you intend to sell them. In the future I would suggest taking your own model releases with you to all shoots and get them signed yourself.

here's a link to the ASMP model releases or google it for other options. If you have a smart phone, you can get a model release App for your phone. I didn't use it this time. https://asmp.org/tutor...

There are plenty of free model releases on the web. I can send you a copy of a model release I use if you would like

      July 26, 2014

I had a bad feeling the day of the shoot that it wasn't going to end well. The tip off was "send me your photos so I can print a calendar and maybe we'll hire you in the future" with no mention of credit. The old "I'll give you two hamburgers tomorrow if you give me one today" gig. That NEVER works. He can't legally print the images without a release from the photographer. There's another "talent" meetup in Miami that operates about the same - put ads on craigslist to get new models, bring in photographers to his run down mansion to take photos. What's worse is he charges the photographers to create his portfolios... supposed to be the other way around in case you didn't know...

    July 26, 2014

  • Michael

I don't know if anyone asked the models how they were contacted about the shoot or not but I did. The one "model" I worked with said that there was a craigslist ad which she responded to. He didn't pay the models either, or contact them after the shoot at all. I don't believe he is even a real agency, he had his family member do that little video. In my opinion that video was horrible, hand held, shaky, didn't show anything that prospective clients might need, etc. I know I could do much better.

I believe (without actually doing any research) that he does something else as a main job/service, and is trying this out to supplement his business. He probably has no experience in this field and taking it one day at a time, learning as he goes along. just my two cents.

      2 · July 26, 2014

    • James K

ditto everything you said! I found the CL ad after the shoot because I was curious after asking one of the models how they were found.

      July 26, 2014

  • Ralf V.

I received an email from the model I shot with a few days after the the shoot. She was very friendly and sent all of her contact information. She asked for images from the shoot and I sent some of the edits. I also offered to send the full res images if she wanted them. That was the last time I heard from her. I even sent a follow up email to make sure she got my reply. I don't what happed. To go from so friendly to no reply seems very strange. Maybe she just didn't like what she got. Also, tried going to the Worth Avenue website and got an error message that the site is no longer available. What a mess. I did however enjoy the shoot.

    July 26, 2014

    • James K

I think we shot the same model. Same exact thing happened to me - super friendly - sent photos- crickets.

I have been in this business for almost 40 years and have worked with two previous modeling agencys that were in West Palm Beach. I didnt make it to this shoot, but this doesnt sound good for this agency. I work with an agency in Atlanta now and dont have this problem of not getting credit for my work.

    July 26, 2014

  • Alan L.

Maybe i missed something but I was never sure what the purpose of this photo shoot was.

I was hoping there would have been more follow up interaction between the photographers, models and the agency so that everyone could learn something about why you did what you did in your approach to this shoot. I suggested to the agency a meetup so we could have a dialogue with photographers and models and talk about styles. Were all the models part of the agency or were some just test shoot for the agency and if so a dialogue would have been beneficial to them?

Curious why photographers photos being used or not getting credit for them?

    July 25, 2014

    • Flavio M.

Alan, for the members of meetup, this is definitely a learning experience and we can use the comment sections in the pictures to interact more. I tried to make some more in-depth comments rather than "nice" or "cool" on some of the photos but as you can see are now 126 images posted, so it's not really practical, but I would suggest that if you have a comment or question, post it. Someone will answer it.

      July 25, 2014

    • Flavio M.

We could also set up a new meetup to talk about these images if enough people are interested.

i call Cag, he promise to e-mail me model release, I didn't receive yet, he asked to e-mail him all my pictures, is this what deal with him, David, i don't remember he told it in his studio, if i knew, i won't be there. I shoot more than 600 pictures and delete most of them

    July 18, 2014

    • David A.

I do not recall him saying he wanted all the photos and no photographer shows everybody everything he or she shoots. There may be some language issues here too.

      July 25, 2014

  • mila

i agree with you he is not honest person and i will never work with him

    July 25, 2014

  • Flavio M.

I sent in photos, and e-mailed him about the releases. He did not respond. He has our photos posted all over the agency's facebook page and instagram. I don't really have an issue with the releases at this point, since I don't have any commercial use for the images - but the fact is that he said he would send out the releases and did not follow through.
I also mentioned that he has been using our images without giving any credit to the photographers. At this rate, he will have a hard time getting anyone to "collaborate" with him again.

    July 25, 2014

  • Digifotos

I emailed photos also... no photo release yet... will be be informed IF they use our photos?

    July 25, 2014

  • David A.

Ralf and Mila and anybody else. You all got the business card from the agency with the phone number on it. Call him.

    July 17, 2014

  • Ralf V.

I also emailed Cag and have not heard back. Also emailed the model and did not hear anything back

    July 17, 2014

Please anyone e-mail me model release, I send Cag, he asked for pictures, i did e-mail him, but got nothing back

    July 17, 2014

  • Alan L.

Initially I wasn't coming because I was rushing from another job, that with the bad weather and leaving my phone at home and didn't know where you guys were at.

I'm glad I made it, the model was great! We walked one block and tried to get as many looks as we could.

Sorry I couldn't make it - looking forward to the next shoot.

I have yet to leave my house, being held hostage by the rain. As soon as it lets up I'll be on my way, I'm hoping for a 5:20 eta.

    July 10, 2014

  • Joe V.

I was really looking forward to this event but given the weather conditions and the fact that I will not be able to leave work as early as I had hoped, I will have to pass on this one. I do look forward to attending one of your future events. Thank you.

    July 10, 2014

  • David A.

Well, Max and I are going. Use your imagination and even if it is still wet and raining, wow! Could get some GREAT photos that would cost and arm and a leg to duplicate in a studio. And there are lots of protected spots on Worth Avenue too. Just sayin. . . .

    1 · July 10, 2014

At 4:20, the rain has stopped on Okeechobee blvd, looking east it's clear.

      July 10, 2014

  • Mary P.

    I'm on my way too

    July 10, 2014

  • David A.

This is Florida. Wait 20 minutes and the weather will change. I do not know, but if the streets are wet and it is not raining, you could get some really terrific photos. There should be enough light for photos and a small flash for fill light and/or catch-lights in the eyes should be really good.

i live in Royal Palm, rain non stop, please let us know if event is cancel

    July 10, 2014

Looks like rain, are we still meeting today?

    July 10, 2014

Looks like 50-80% chance of rain 5pm-8pm. Meeting still on?

    July 10, 2014

  • Mary P.

I am new to the group and look forward to this meetup. Hopefully the weather will hold up. If for any reason, this meetup is cancelled will you post a message here or send emails? Looking forward to meeting everyone.

    July 9, 2014

Problem for me - I have a hernia and it hurts. I will try to be there, but will not be very active.

    July 9, 2014

  • Scott G

Is there free parking there or do we pay nearby? I will try to make it if the weather holds up and work is feasible.

    July 9, 2014

    • David A.

Parking on the street is free, so should be no problems.

      July 9, 2014

I wish I could make it, but things are way too busy this week. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the shots.

    July 9, 2014

  • Flavio M.

Hey David, I will not be able to make it there until at least 5:30. Do you think you will be out on the streets by then?

    July 7, 2014

I can stall for a bit :-) and you should be OK.

      July 7, 2014

    July 6, 2014

Yes, that is correct for this Meetup.

      July 6, 2014
