The Meaning of Art and Freemasonry

On February 22, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. the Masonic Philosophical Society will be hosting a study group at the Evanston Public Library. Each Meetup a different topic, ranging from philosophy and science to religion and metaphysics, is discussed, debated and related to the principles of Freemasonry.

February's topic will be conducted by Brother Matias Cumsille on the Meaning of Art and Freemasonry. After a short lecture a discussion and debate by the group will follow.

What is Art? Why are people drawn to different types of Art? Has the skill necessary to accomplish art lessened over time? This month’s study will focus on the essential question of the importance of the Arts in our lives. Join us as we explore the qualities of famous paintings and sculptures throughout the ages through a Masonic perspective.

This group for men and women, which is open to the public, is where non-members can learn more about Freemasonry, as well as meet local Freemasons.

Hi Neil. First of all, welcome to the Meetup! I am contacting Matias, the co-organizer as he set up the site. There will certainly be more openings so you will not be wait listed. This also includes everyone who is now wait listed. I am just not sure we have a limit at all and I will update as soon as I know.

I'll be posting the topic of discussion soon but in the meantime you may want to check out our facebook page at:

Thank you. See you on February 22.

I am on the wait list. Is that a mistake or is it just open to 5 people?

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
